Dear god that looks pretty nasty. Hard to tell from a snapshot but looks like Wes dodged a bullet there.

Was listening in the car to the first half feeling really sorry for everyone at the match. Our performance was slated up to the second goal. But one hell of a comeback. Well done lads.

    Now for Utd!

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet: "It was looking really bad, we couldn't make a pass together, couldn't cope with the pace, power and passing game of Souithampton. It was looking dark but the goal came at the right time.

"We need to be realistic, this is a point gained because we were far from being good enough in the first half. It is incredible how much we changed in the second half.

"The second half is the best part of our game. We have been working on things. The subs have been outstanding. If they keep believing maybe it is going to be possible."

Wowzer I've not seen the challenge so will take your word that he got the ball, etc but that picture looks hideous. There's an element of luck (whether you say good luck he didn't get a red or that it would have been bad luck if he had) as if the ref just sees the end of the challenge and something like that picture its hard to imagine the lad not getting his marching orders. You could probably have a few bad pictures in many games though, things taken out of context and all that.

Great comeback from yourselves today, do I hear you all cheering us on this afternoon? We are creaming West Ham, maybe 7 isn't out of the question...

Brown won the ball and his foot deflects into the player. Not a foul but a very unfortunate outcome. Happens in football but totally not a foul IMO.

The other lad hurts himself trying to foul Gardner.

Both unfortunate for Southampton but nothing to do with any foul play.

Brown genuinely went for the ball and got it, not dirty imo, it's a mans game.

It's sad but serious injuries aren't always the result of dirty tackles.

We did not turn up for the first 30 minutes and Catts and Larsson should have been taken off after 10 minutes. Jozy had another poor games and MoM is between Borini (my choice) or Johno.

In real time Southampton's striker injury did not look a foul, I have not seen a replay yet. The second Southampton player injured himself trying to foul Johnson.

I have so fed up that we made such a dreadful start, we could have been 4 down in half an hour. Great cross by Johno for first goal and well taken right footer formhis own goal.
