    Places are all that matter.

We finished 11th (bottom half) in our first season under Brenda. We finished 9th (top half) and won the League Cup in our second season under the magical Mr Laudrup.

Actually its league position that is important over points simply because the higher in the league we are the more money the club has to spend in the following season. Of course it is generaly true to say that the more points you have the higher you will be in the league but nonetheless the most important stat is position.

Not really Dai. Spurs finished with 71 points last season and normally that would have been good enough for top 4.

Points are very important but having 45 points would be extremely disappointing in a freak season where that would be 18th after the last game. Positions are the most important thing and anything 17th and above is mission successful for a small club like Swansea who also have to battle in the Europa League.

We have increased the quality in the squad but not the depth, now if we finish 17th or above our fourth season would a squad building season. Relegation is not impossible but there are other teams who would rather have our players than their own.

Exactly, no fool (well except maybe one) would prefer getting 40 points and finishing 18th, than 36 points and finishing 17th.

40 points is a complete myth.

The truth is, throughout the history of the Prem, an average of just 37 points is enough to guarantee survival. The club in 18th averages around 36.5 points.

So we are just 16 points away.... EASY!!

Survival this and every season for a while is top priority for us obviously, and as long as we stay out of debt the coin will build up and we can eventually build a team that can rival the likes of arsenal & man u on the field every season with some more skill/luck and crafty signings not crazy spending.

And strengthening behind the scenes would be good to. A backroom employee who`s great at contract deals and fine detail would be handy plus another good scout with even better contacts maybe ?

Its so tight this year that even below 40 points may get a safety spot whether its due to a poor prem showing by the teams this season or just to many factors like injuries, club turmoils or cups etc its gonna be tight till the end for the bottom 8 imo. ?

The most points enables you to get as high as possible . You can't control what other teams do to each other to find your place in the standings.

Depends if the injured players every come back. With so many injured there is the possibility of other injuries, meaning missing players for the rest of the season. A lot also depends on how we to in Europe and FA Cup. Get through to next round of both, with maybe a reply against Brum, and the players will get really tired. Mix that in with missing players and possible injuries and it could all go pear shaped. On the other hand, if we get knocked out of both, players come back and we don't get many more injuries, then we could finish 11th. So very difficult to tell at the moment. Could be 35-50 points.

you are confused about what i said. I said that our first season is our highest points total to date and nothing about where we finished in the placings and Rodgers got us that, also many believe including me that it was Rodgers who's style of play got us the league cup. Laudrup had only been with us for 5 minutes and was still trying to learn about the players and how the premiership is run so he gets no credit for that..Look at results after the cup final to date which is nearly a year and that is laudrups reality and not taking credit for a past manager...Its shocking that has led us to where we are fighting for survival.

We're not confused about what you said, we just don't care what you said.

The table doesn't lie, last season was our best ever - thanks Mr Laudrup.

    So the argument is:

Rodgers got more points for us, and Laudrup gave us our best finish.
At the end of the day by finishing higher in the league we made more money.

I reckon we have enough to get 21 points in the remaining games.

    Wins - Fulham (h) Cardiff (h) Palace (h) Villa (h)
    Draws - Tottenham (h) west ham (a) Stoke (a) West Brom (h) Norwich (h) Hull (a) Newcastle (a) Southampton (h) Sunderland (a)
    Loss - Liverpool (a) Arsenal (a) Everton (a) Chelsea (h)
