CELTIC'S bid to land Robert Snodgrass will hinge on whether Norwich City are willing to drop their asking price.
Record Sport understands the Canaries are looking for £6 million for the Scotland international who has 18 months left on his Carrow Road contract.
But Hoops boss Neil Lennon was hoping to snare the 26-year-old for around £4.5 million.
Lennon watched Snodgrass against Fulham on Tuesday night in an FA Cup replay at Craven Cottage - and is aware that the winger is a lifelong Celtic fan.
Record Sport understands Snodgrass IS willing to take a drop in wages to seal a dream move to Parkhead - but is waiting to see if Norwich will negotiate with Celtic on the transfer fee.
The Scot started his career at Livingston before moving to Leeds United in 2008.
He earned a £4 million move to Carrow Road.

Would rather spend that kind of money on a poacher.

Seriously, a decent player and would do well for us, I just can't see us paying EPL wages and spending that cash.

No, no, no. We sell to the Premier League because they pay stupid money, we don't buy from there.

He is an attacking midfielder so more than likely will be looking at him to replace Samaras and can play anywhere across the 3 behind the main striker.

Good that we are looking at good players and seeing if deals can be done to get abit of proven quality who knows the league, but where does this leave our hunt for a new striker?

Exactly, I can't imagine we will be buying many £6m players this window and the priority is surely a poacher to replace hooper.

Replacing Hooper was a priority in the summer and we spunked money on the slow Harald Brattback and Mo Bangura's cousin.

No way will we be spending £3m+ on a footballer.

Think we may spend £3m+ if its a good deal.

Snodgrass is less of a gamble than foreign players as he knows about the league, country etc and he is a proven good player, rather than a rough diamond or young kid we would try and develop.

In saying that, I don't see much in this particular story.......IF seems to be in that article a fair bit. If Norwich lower their valuation, if Snodgrass drops his wages....i woupd expect an if Samaras leaves too!

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/norwich-linked-neil-lennon-celtic-3037620

Lennon seems to cool any link for snodgrass and is forster going to run down his contract?

Lennon – who dismissed any interest in Norwich winger Robert Snodgrass – said: “The market has changed.

“We went down to watch Jay Rodriguez at Burnley a couple of years ago and he eventually ended up going to Southampton for £7million.

“The year before that we got Gary Hooper for what we feel was probably a bargain (£1.8million). Probably people weren’t sure about him at the time but we felt we were getting a good player for the money.

“Then there was Kris Commons at £300,000. So there are still bargains to be had or value for money to be found.

“But sometimes it is difficult to quantify. If you are paying £6-7m for a player who has never played in the Premier League, you just don’t know how they are going to adapt.”

Lennon also insisted keeper Fraser Forster won’t be sold in this window and said: “I am not expecting any bids to come in for him. If they do, they will be rejected.

“He isn’t in a hurry to leave anyway. I wouldn’t say he is nailed down for an England place but he is as good as.

“I don’t think there is any need for him to go just now – although in the long term he will go.”

Forget Snodgrass the player you should be trying to get from us is Hoolahan. Superb player that Hughton for some reason doesn't play.
