I think it's just because jenson is the only driver that can keep on attacking and maintain his tyres to good effect. While Lewis and Fernando might destroy theirs trying to get past, I've yet to remember him cracking under Lewis or Alonso.

Maybe it's because Button had less to lose and could risk contact.

IMO.Folk are reading too much into Vettel's slip up.On that track it could have happened a bishop.

I think his mistake, as SilverArrow mentioned earlier somewhere, was in not pulling out a bigger gap after the safety car. Button's pace was there for all to see and I think Red Bull severely underestimated Button - perhaps even overestimated Webber's ability to keep him behind. The little slip-up from Vettel was very forgivable given his desperation to stay more than a second ahead on the last lap because of the long DRS zone, which we saw exploited by Massa. Maybe it wasn't quite inevitable but, yeah - Button had all the aces in his hand.

I would have loved to see Button have a go with DRS into the last corner of the race, like Massa, that would have been incredible.

I do not think Vettel's little mistake is really that important because Button was easily within one second so he would of got passed Vettel with the DRS anyway.

    Mifune,

Good point as it would have made an exciting finish and also love that signature.

Alonso winning in the dark of Korea. Probably the greatest drive I have ever seen.

    Going back on-topic...

Anyone got any news on updates on the cars?? If so feel free to post....

I'm going for Alonso, and for once this isn't blind optimism! If he hadn't have stopped for inters before the red flag, or become a beached whale, I think Alonso could well have won that race, Ferrari are much closer to Red Bull now.

The Ferrari is not far off the Qually pace of Vettel so it could happen. Thats what I belive. Button should be strong on a high too

I think every race we've debated "Oooh, tough one to call this week" for a thousand different factors. Despite Vettel being streets ahead - it's still a fascinating season.

Once again I bring up '06 and '09 both great seasons. Championship leader gets massive lead then gets pulled in. Hopefully Vettel will crash the next few races <ok>

Also if there wasnt a safety car in Monaco from LH and FM then Button would have only been 40 points behind instead of 60. Its only about 22 in the old scoring. Schuey gained 25 points in 8 races in '06. Lets say the next two races go like Monza/Singapore last year with Alonso/Hamilton. Alonso gained 50 points in a week or two. Anything could happen. Everyone's season goes up and down all the time. Why not again?

I think it'll be RBR last pole of the season, if blown exhausts are banned from Silverstone onwards, then I think it'll be down to whether Button or Hamilton can catch up without the other taking too many points away. I don't see Ferrari challenging, their Quali pace puts them ahead of McLaren, but at race pace the McLaren seems ahead of everyone else, including RBR, who are streets ahead of everyone else with their blown exhausts.

I like Button, but just to annoy the Hamelots, I hope he beats Vettel and Hamilton fair and square to win the title.

me too, sadly, if it did happen, it will just bring out the tin foil hatters citing a Martin Whitmarsh conspiracy.

Read a few f1 websites saying that red bull are bringing big upgrades come silverstone, so roll on the blown diffuser ban, because Newey's looking ready for the second half.

personally I think banning mid season for what is a very dubious reason is a disgrace. I'm glad it's happening but can't help but feel that if it was McLaren or Ferrari that were using it so well it wouldn't be banned until the end of the season.

I agree that it shouldn't be banned mid season. The FIA can't keep on moving the yard stick every 5 minutes. Its wasting teams money and in punishing innovation.

It's not being banned mid-season. EBDs will not be banned until 2012. They're still permitted on-throttle at 100% in 2011. All that's being changed is that off-throttle blowing is being restricted to 10%. If teams like Red Bull are running at only 45% then what's the big deal? If this system is mainly a qualifying fillip then what's the big deal? Burning fuel simply to utilise its waste product is a scandal anyway.

not gunna happen, mark my words.button is a very good driver, and was brilliant in canada and thoroughly deserved his win.but he normally puts is a few brilliant performances a season.but whatever he does wont be enough to see him get more points than his team mate over a season.
and you shouldnt support a driver to annoy fans of another driver other wise those fans will end up annoying you, which is what hamiltons fans seem to be doing to you.but you only have yourself to blame.you should support a driver because you are a fan of his driving style, otherwise your being very petty.

And you shouldn't come onto a forum just to tell other people what opinions they're allowed to have or what they're allowed to post.

Do you have anything at all to say that isn't simply trying to paper over the cracks in your idol's driving?

Read DHC's comment again. "I like Button" - i.e. he's a fan of his driving style. If he'd said, "I don't like Button but, just to annoy the Hamelots..." then your comment might have made some sense.

    Actually Genji he says.

Which stats that hatred for Hamilton or his Hamelots is the only reason for liking Button and wanting him to succeed.
That is an attitude that annoys me.

Depends on which part of what DC Canary posted that you take as a stand alone sentance. I dont think is makes sense if he likes him, but wants him to beat hamilton.
