Yeah but last year he hadn't shown his true colours! He's not a fan and all the **** about giving something back to the city! Was a load of ****! He's in it to make money! I just hope we're as loud as ever today!
He saved the club from administration and took a big gamble on paying up for Steve Bruce. Putting money into football clubs is not the way way to make safe money. Why is this thread becoming a troll fest?
And there in is the point - he hasn't put any money into a football club. He has loaned them money at a rate above current interest rates. And it's not trolling, it's challenging misconceptions.
Oh come on Mr Crab. Can you honestly say that he has done nothing? Would we be even having this discussion if he had not wanted a name change? I think not. I do think Mr Allam could have done with a good PR person and recent comments made by him have not helped his cause. I still however believe that the aggressive and disrespectful nature of some fans at the start of the name change debate did not help matters. These are the same fans who feel only they have a divine right to support the Tigers because they went to Boothferry Park, go to all the away games etc. Seriously, if you want the club to go back to those old days - a few thousand fans, financial insecurity and the threat of non-league football - then maybe you should support another club. Things change and move on. This I believe is another one of those moments. I await the abuse and posts telling me how wrong I am......
OK thank you AA, you pumped in your own cash to save the club. you have done your bit... but you can f**k off now. I hope the senile old codger puts us up for sale in summer.
I also second a big thanks to Allam and Brucie for greatly strengthening our team, not many others have in this window (yet). But as is pointed out the interest rate is very good in today's market and you can borrow from a bank for much less than that if you do it sensibly. At a recent company i worked for i put together a loan at 0.75% over LIBOR which today would equate to just under 1.75% and it wasn't a massive company much larger that Allam Marine. So the point is that he should be making a very tidy profit on his loans! However i am still very grateful to Brucie for finding the payers in this and the last window and AA for making the funds available - very exciting times for Hull City (yes i am against the name change).
Exactly. Remove the name change hatred, which is a separate issue, and look at the logic. He has given the city the gift of a great team again in the premier league. If it was that easy to make money from football why are so many people losing cash!? Getting interest payments means the club must be generating income or there would be nothing to pay out. Companies pay dividends but only when they are making money. The logic being ignored for sensationalism is stunning. If anyone understood even the vaguest notions of corporate law and finance they would see straight through this claptrap.
Ps Leeds borrowed lots of money from bank type places, and where are they now? Try finding a bank that would give a club close to liquidation a seventy million loan!
So he makes a profit off the loans. If your in dire straits and about to lose everything, you've little assets and the banks and loan companies won't give you a second look. Then along comes a company who says I'll give you the money you need, but I'll charge you slightly higher interest because your higher risk. That company might be making a profit off you, but aren't you still grateful to them for giving you the chance and opportunity to save yourself, aren't you grateful for them taking that risk
Do you consider abuse and an opposing opinion to be one and the same thing, or are you simply inviting an argument where you wish to act offended? The points you make are shallow, insulting and without any credit, so don't deserve decent debate.
this is a tough one. thinking about it, he is getting a tidy sum out of it............. if Mike Ashley can pump money in and charge 0% interest than why cant AA? but then again, not many football clubs make money internationally, well the top 6 do. so it begs the question, is him taking out a % on top of the cash he has ploughed in fair?
Which club is the higher risk? Which clubs have assets to protect your investment? I won't dislike him for making what seems a smart business decision......maybe for his attitude
well don't ****ing answer him then, if you think he's wumming, don't give him the satisfaction of a reply.
Football, at least within this country, is not a business like any other. Football fans are without doubt paying customers of a football club but in no other mode of business are the customers so emotionally caught up in the company they are dealing with and the product they are receiving. It is quite conceivable that the 74 year old, Egyptian born business man could change the name of the generator company that made his millions, and experience the benefits of a more marketable moniker. That is simply not the case with a football club that have played under their current name since 1904. There can be no benefit in naming Hull City anything other than that, to market it more globally, if in so doing their bread and butter fans â the ones who live in Hull, buy tickets, programmes, food and merchandise â are alienated by the move. A football club is a matter of family history, tradition and tribalism. A name gives it identity and continuity as it is passed from parent to child. A name gains value from the repetition, people know what is being spoken of and what is to be expected of it. If you blindfolded a group of people and asked them to sniff a rose, but named it as some new variety of flower, and compare its scent on a scale of one to ten, to the scent of a rose would they say it smells the same? Does a rose by any other name smell as sweet? That could be a very interesting psychological experiment. Foreign owners such as Allam and Vincent Tan at Cardiff are ditching our gameâs rich tapestries in the blink of an eye, with no apparent understanding for the industry in which they are operating. Given their financial dependency on their owner, it would be quite understandable if Hull City fans did not agree, but I believe English football would be much better off if all the club owners who know the price of everything and the value of nothing, did disappear from the game in the next 24 hours. Does a football club abandoning its heritage, to whatever end smell, as sweet? No it does not. In fact it stinks.
