This could be madness but it could easily be a very good spot. I am tipping one tomorrow in the Taunton Novices Handicap Chase but the horse is really anything but a novice. Bob Buckler knows the time of day and his SAINT PERAY 25-1 Taunton 2:15 is a multiple winner between the flags usually in a pretty facile manner. He has a chequered career under rules including when falling at Chepstow. His most two recent runs have been over hurdles but they could very well have just been to put him straight for a tilt at a chase. When he came from France he had a rating of 105 and was a close second off that mark. Tomorrow he runs off 85 and as he usually has to shoulder 12st in points then he will hardly know he has a jockey on board. I could be way off the mark but he is certainly a very interesting runner! Oh and a half decent Cotes du Rhone!
Also, Laura Young and Dougie Costello landing a huge punt with Admiral Blake earlier in the week and I think they are looking to land another tomorrow with CAMPTOWN LADY 4.00 Taunton 8-1 and falling.
It's madness - but you sold me Come on lads, lets see if we can do a Pricewise and get this one down to single figures!
14.25 Ascot- Bourne- 13/2 C&D Winner who this trip and stiff testing conditions will suit- Is back on his lowest mark and is showing signsof improvemen with every run. The favourite won easily lto @cheltneham but has gone up 19lbs since and in these conditions carrying less weight should prevail
A little tempter for tomorrow from Billy Hill ..... 2-1 against Nichols having two or more winners. From Ptit Zig, Irish Saint, The Minack, Benvolio, Grandioso/Bury Parade and Kauto Stone Not decided as yet!
Really like BFT but cant be havig him tomorrow- Yes I know he has a claimbler claimbing 5lbs which takes him to 1lb lower than his last winning mark. But I just think this may be a little to sharp for him aand will do well to beat Venetias horse
Well his trainer doesn't agree - Tom George, trainer of Big Fella Thanks "I don't think the handicapper has been particularly kind to him but we're taking 5lb off his back and that will help. He didn't get home in the Becher Chase and won't be going back to Aintree. Ascot suits him, the distance is right and his work is good so he should run his race."
Few for me today but going to take more of a watching brief...mainly because my football bet is still running from last week...Arsenal, City and Liverpool for a 13 team accumulator ! Talk about a sweat on here for me!! Anyway, to matters at hand: Foxrock 1.35 Naas - took 2/1 last night 6/4 atm With the form of Venetia Williams I'm doing 2 singles and a double on Renard 3.00 Ascot 9/2 and Katenko 3.15 Haydock Also big win single on Sire De Grugy. Should hose up imo. I've also had the usual dabble at the shorty accum: Mickie 1.50 6/4 Un Temps Pour Tout 2.05 evens Ptit Zig 2.40 10/11 Sire De Grugy 3.35 5/4 Good luck all!
My birthday selections for today all from Haydock... Off into Liverpool today to watch the mighty Redmen, and also a few sherberts before and after the game as well... How very nice of them to play on my birthday...!!! Anyway, ive saved most of my money for the liquid refreshments on the day and done a small mix of doubles, trebles and singles, gotta get my priorities right for today... Though I might have more success on the doubles of a liquid type later on... 12.20 - Ugly Bug, 7/2 12.55 - Rival D'estruval, 7/2 1.30 - Taquin Du Seuil, 5/6 2.05 - Stand To Reason, 7/2 2.40 - Ptit Zig, eve 3.15 - The Minack, 10/1 3.50 - Greensalt, 7/2 Hope we all have a good one, and good luck to all whatever your playing on...
Today is probably 1 of the biggest days ill have before Cheltenham. I have 8 selections and 4 of them i fancy for the festival. Obviously i would expect them to be winning today if i thought they had a hope in March. 1.30 Haydock - Taquin Du Seuil - Dropped back to 2m 2 runs ago, too sharp but his class nearly got him through it(1 bad mistake cost him the race) then back to optimum trip against Oscar Whiskey in a race where the ground was atrocious and half the fences had to be avoided. A close 2nd but that doesnt worry me, OW is in a different league to todays opposition. 2.05 Haydock - Meadowcroft Boy - Fair play to connections they could have scooted up easy prize money at Newcastle but send the horse south for a bigger prize and to also judge how good the horse could be in this grade 2. Visually very taking performance last time out(horses behind dont look like much mind you) but the class is shown in the bumper he beat Tradewinds who is decent. He jumps very nicely and at speed absolutely pinged them on debut. Easily the best hurdling display iv seen from a novice this year. If he was in a top stable this lad would be odds on or close to it. 2.40 Haydock - Melodic Rendezvous - I actually thought he was going to run in the Betfair Hurdle instead although that is still an option i guess. The trainer mentioned he wont be fully wound up yet but the horse just oozes class and i think he is a strong contender for the Champion Hurdle although the odds dont suggest this. Top novice last year and was 1 of the market leaders for the Supreme before being found lame just a day or 2 before the race. Pulled a muscle last time out although didnt actually finish that far behind MTOY. Return of heavy ground is also in his favour and even gets 4lbs from Ptit Zig. On for the champion hurdle at 40s 3.15 Haydock - Katenko - Was running a stormer on season debut in the Hennessy travelling arguably best of all before tipping over. Was then out again a week after but was clear horse still isnt 100% raring to go and faded late on(didnt jump very well either this time). Loves a bit of cut in the ground and cobwebs should now be long gone. Pricewise has picked him which is never a bad thing - apart from the price at the off. I fully expect them to land this on the way to a shot at the Gold cup which im on at 50s. 1.50 Ascot - Utopie Des Bordes - Love this horse she always gives her all and very consistent in hot handicaps all winter when carrying top weight in 3 of the last 4 races she has run. Only a slight pull in weights with Mickie and she will be the obvious danger. 3.35 Ascot - Sire De Grugy - Proven himself to be 1 of the best horses around now at 2m with Sprinter Sacre on the road to recovery he has been scooting up the prizes instead. Seems very versatile when it comes to the ground and should hopefully add a 2nd grade 1 for the Moores. As MOG pointed out the 2m form over in Ireland looks very good on paper and i would expect Hidden Cyclone to be the biggest danger. 4.05 Ascot - Champagne West - I expected him to be odds on especially after Deputy Dan franking the form with a grade 2 win. Absolutely bolted up on handicap debut on heavy ground and carries a penalty today which shouldnt be a problem. 1.00 Naas - Rule the World - I dont know what connections are doing with him, frustrating as on his day he is very good. Quite a hot grade 3 but should have the beating of these. Singles on all and a trixie on Sire De Grugy, Taquin & Meadowcroft Boy
Happy birthday red the CLARET AND BLUES may ruin your birthday but that might be wishful thinking on my behalf lol , have a good day anyway mate ! comp bets only for me lost heart with jumping and sand . ascot Ballinvarrig caroles spirit Minnella forfitness Theatrical star somersby Haydock the minack goodluck all
