I hate to appear impatient but............. We are one of the last to do business and are halfway through this window so far. This begs the question; Are we being prudent and not buying in crocked has-been's (or never were) perhaps ? Is our scouting failing and we are not identifying players quickly or acting rapidly enough to sign the ones we find ? Has Tony closed his wallet ? According to the BBC it seems that the following teams have signed new players (ok some are loans) so far; Barnsley x3 Blackburn Yoevil Watford Derby x2 Bolton Middlesbrough x2 Brighton x2 Leeds x2 Doncaster x2 Burnley Wigan x2 Sheffield W Leicester x2 Huddersfield Millwall Views ?
Better good quality than a rush job... a maxim we have never used before though...first time for everything Patience is a virtue....
Normally those in demand don't go until nearing the end of the window, it's like buying a house with a long chain involved
Lets wait another 2 weeks before we think about criticising. Krancjar, BAE and Carroll were all done in last hour of the Summer window and all three have been very useful signings.
Another two weeks almost past, are we the only team in the Championship to have not secured some new staff? A last minute scramble to be expected for the dregs left available?
Most business is always done on the last day, so there is not much point considering this until next week.
We are in 2nd place and have shown that we do not need many additions to the team - another good striker is needed of course but that´s about it.
I wouldn't necessarily argue with that. I would have liked to have seen a deal done and the matter finalised. Look at what Wells has achieved. As regards, most business is on the last day claims, that is simply untrue. The last day is the busiest yes, but it is wrong to suggest there are more signings on that day alone than during the previous 30.
Part of me hopes for no-one to come in if it means that we don't get some "old crock" that we've been linked with in the past. It would force Harry to consider bringing back Hitchcock and Petrasso and others from their loan spells. I think they would give their all for the team and give the much needed cover for Austin. Oh and save TF some bucks in the process.
All teams do have that sort of problem and as far as I know we do have some cover for a certain period. Commercially it is not wise to bring in more expensive player that do certainly fancy long term contracts - at the end they will just sit around (like BZ) and will block money that is needed for the Prem. Of course I would like to have AT back and get in Defoe but that is not needed in my point of view.
