http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...s-midfielder/story-20458593-detail/story.html MICHAEL Laudrup has revealed Swansea City are on the lookout for a midfielder after losing Jose Canas for a month. And Laudrup has also admitted he seriously considered recalling Ki Sung-Yueng from his loan spell at Sunderland this week - only to discover that Swansea had missed their chance to bring the South Korean back to Wales. "When I was first asked about bringing Ki back (last week), I said I would not because he was doing well at Sunderland and if he came back and didn't play regularly, it would be very difficult for him mentally," said the Swansea manager. "But things changed dramatically when we lost Jonathan de Guzman and Jose Canas in the space of a few days. "The injury to Canas will probably keep him out for about four weeks, and suddenly we only had two midfield players. "Then I looked into the possibility of bringing Ki back, but the loan agreement said it should have been done by the end of December, so it's not a possibility. "The only way we can change that is if Ki and both clubs all agree to end the loan, but of course Sunderland are not going to do that." Chairman Huw Jenkins claimed earlier this week that Swansea had until January 31 to recall Ki if they wished. But having checked the small print, Swansea have realised they had to give Sunderland seven days' notice that they planned to bring Ki back before January 1. While questions may be asked about why Swansea agreed to such a deal, Laudrup must now focus on planning for the rest of the season without Ki. And he concedes a new midfield player may now arrive before the end of the month. "We are looking into that position because of the injury of Canas," Laudrup added. "But it's a difficult position because if players are playing somewhere else, their clubs say they cannot go. Finding players who are not playing is not easy." There is some good news for Swansea ahead of Sunday's clash with Tottenham, with Laudrup confirming that Roland Lamah and Dwight Tiendalli are set to return to his squad after injury. Nathan Dyer and Pablo Hernandez are back in full training, but it is unlikely they will make it in time. F*cking stellar work Huw, no wonder his local business failed! Get in there DaiSwan now is your chance mush!
MICHAEL Laudrup has revealed Swansea City are on the lookout for a midfielder after losing Jose Canas for a month. We have one of the best ready made with KI if he was not so stubborn and recall him. there is no need to waste money when we dont have too..
It seems that everybody thinks Ki is a world beater and should never have gone on loan to Sunderland. He couldn't even hold a regular spot when he was with us, yes he's a good player but certainly no better than what we've got. I archived some of the sentiment towards Ki from this site and there were certainly more for leaving him out of the side than selecting him. We've been very unfortunate with injuries in recent weeks something nobody could envisage. If Ki's form has now started to peak then it wasn't the case with us. I'm glad he's hitting top form lets hope he helps Sunderland to take points away from the other 8 or 9 clubs facing a relegation dogfight.
Bunch of AMATEURS!!! Jenkins checked the small print only to find that Ki had to come back before December 31. Don't the admin people check the small print BEFORE we sign a contract???????????? The irony is that, if we don't find a good replacement for Canas, it could get us relegated: and all because some pen-pushing idiot isn't doing his/her job properly. We have a track record for this kind of thing and mistakes haven't been learned from. Pathetic.
Get ur facts rite dippy dai. Its KI that wont come back you old fool. When Ki did play for us didnt you slag him off ? Of course you did.
Do you honestly belive ki would make a difference, nope. He was low on the depth chart when here and now you talk about him as if he's a messi? He is playing for the bottom club in the prem, get real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Get a life son you don't have a clue what you are on about and if you were that intelligent you would see that most of us are saying the same thing
I got a huge life grandad....and what's this case you're always resting dippy, too heavy for you or is it that you've never ever had one. So cumon dippy dai, whats the story? go on, make us all laugh
My sentiments entirely, how many times are we going to drop these bloody clangers? AMATEURS being the operative word!..............
You clearly don't rate him, but quite a lot do, including myself, I really do not know how you can say this given his performances with Sunderland, and remember they are a team in transformation who will not be going down, unless you know different?.................
well im not. Totally agree with Stumpy, all this bollocks regarding Ki and the bloke was at best average for us in our midfield last season, he had plenty of chances to shine and played forward and defensive midfield, he was IMO a signing with potential that we over paid for , he struggled in our midfield where good ball control is second nature ,playing for the Mackems he is bound to look decent, he is one of the few good footballing type plsyers they have up there . Lets not pretend Ki is the answer because he isnt, Amat played as well against utd last week as ive seen Ki sung play for us,given a few games there Jordi would d o fine, it becomes a problem in defence not so much midfield, i think we have enough in there to still be effective regardless of the Dog Average Ki sung, the big time charlie can fck off from the Swans for good if you ask me, if amat had the amount of games Ki had in midfield for us then we would be looking at a player twice as effective as our Korean beckham. Move on . PS Huw Jenkins and the board ,fck up yet again! shambles a total shambles. small time local buisnessmen so way out of their depth at this level its almost cringworthy to see, still, better ther devil you know the devil you dont !!
Confirmation to any Laudrup bashers that Ivor's (and Dragon's) version of events is correct...don't think Huw can be blamed either as he was clearly led to believe Ki could be recalled. I would suggest it is the fault of our Lawyer....inexcusable that these things aren't checked and communicated to those who need to know correctly though. Swansea City’s Michael Laudrup: It is getting harder to find recruits — but Ki Sung-Yueng would have been perfect By South Wales Evening Post *|* Posted: January 18, 2014 By Gareth Vincent MICHAEL Laudrup has admitted Ki Sung-Yueng would have been “perfect” for Swansea City — but they didn’t want him back until it was too late. Laudrup looked into the possibility of recalling Ki from his season-long loan spell at Sunderland after discovering that Jose Canas will be out for a month with an ankle ligament injury. But any thoughts of bringing Ki back to Wales became irrelevant when Swansea realised they had missed their opportunity to do so. Huw Jenkins told the Post earlier this week that Swansea had until January 31 to recall Ki if they wished. It turns out he was wrong. On checking the small print, Swansea realised they could only have brought Ki back this month had they given Sunderland seven days’ notice before the end of December. It is hard to understand how Swansea allowed such a clause to be inserted when they agreed to let Ki join Sunderland last summer. When asked about it yesterday, Laudrup’s face suggested he was bemused. “I looked into it,” said the Swansea manager. “I was thinking because of the circumstances with Canas that Ki is a player we know and is doing well. “He would have been perfect if Sunderland had lost semi-final to Manchester United. “I said before that I would not bring him back. That was not because he was not doing well, but about the mental part of bringing back a player who is playing regularly and has the chance to play in a cup final. “Things changed when we got the injury to Canas, but the loan agreement said we could not (recall KI). “The agreement said it should have been done by the end of December, so it’s not a possibility. “The only way we can change that is if Ki and both clubs all agree to end the loan, but of course Sunderland are not going to do that. “I was disappointed, but I did not make the loan agreement.” Maybe next time they send a player on loan, Swansea may take more care over the terms of the deal. For now, they must plan ahead without Ki — and that means they may move for a midfielder as well as a forward before the January window closes. “We are looking into that position because of the injury of Canas,” Laudrup added. “But it’s a difficult position because if players are playing somewhere else, their clubs say they cannot go. Finding players who are not playing is not easy.” Laudrup was reluctant to talk transfers yesterday, the Dane refusing to comment on Tom Ince amid suggestions the Blackpool winger may be on his way to Monaco. When pressed on whether Swansea are close to bringing in any fresh faces, Laudrup added: “The club are working hard, but these things are very difficult. “Let’s say we want a player. There might be four or five clubs interested, so the club want to know how much we will pay. “Then the agent says ‘Swansea? Maybe, but we will see next week’. “It only gets worse as you get closer to January 31, which is like a television show. “A couple of other clubs have done some business. Hull have done very well to sign two (Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long). They have spent a lot of money, and I don’t think we’re going to do that. “If we are looking at a loan deal, but they are not easy. I have to admit, it’s not easy. “I would be very happy if we’d got one or even two players in on January 1. I would have had the players for another month, which makes a hell of a difference. “But it’s not a perfect world, and every day we get closer to the deadline, it gets even harder.”
Well hopefully the extra money that the club may have to fork out to bring in a player will be deducted from the individual who f**ked up .simplistic I know but it would certainly focus their attention next time before any agreement is signed .
