    From MERTRO News:
Tim Krul could leave Newcastle to become new AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf’s first signing!

AC Milan want to take £8million Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul from Tyneside to the San Siro in the next fortnight. The Italian club have maintained their interest in the Holland international even though Clarence Seedorf has replaced Massimiliano Allegri as their coach.

Krul, 25, has been praised as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe by his fellow Dutchman Edvin van der Sar, the former Manchester United goalkeeper. He is also wanted by Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Despite their struggles this season, joining seven-time European champions Milan, who are currently 11th in Serie A, would be a big temptation for Krul, who, accroding to Newcastle’s Evening Chronicle, has three years left on the contract he signed two years ago.

Would take a lot more than £8m I would have thought.

8 milllion? They can think again. He is worth three times that in the current climate.

If he goes for £8m I'll whore myself round the centre for life area in a mackem top for 50p a pop.

They can start at £15m for him. That's a fair price as he can be a game winner.
Fat Mike should just send them a copy of the Spurs game and a copy of the laughging policeman.....

If we got an offer of £20 million, I'd snatch their arms off. While he's matured well, he has "faults" which will never be fixed. He's not the most agile keeper around, and his reflexes and decision making aren't the best either. The reason I say "faults", is because they aren't really faults at all. He's just not the best in those areas and will never be, I think he's reached the limits of his powers. He's a solid keeper (nothing more) in every respect, except one, catching crosses. That he is one of the best in the world at.

£8 million is probably just about what he's actually worth, so of course Ashley won't sell him for that. That'd be preposterous! Taking less than 15 million would be suicidal.
The problem would be replacing a steady goalkeeper in the current market. Even baffoons (not Buffon's... different breed) go for silly money. It's never been so good to be an ailing and aging goalie. The really creaky old fart journeymen will get picked up left and right by premier league clubs, just because their deals with championship/league 1 clubs are coming to an end and premier league clubs always need back-up keepers. It's just a cheap and necessary solution when you really want to blow your load on a South American forward to rescue your season.

Not many keepers down the leagues have impressed. Kasper Schmeichel's probably the best I've seen down there, and that's not saying much. Paddy Kenny and Paul Robinson are considered gods for crying out loud!!!

Maybe not for their goalkeeping ability.

There is a news story that we are interested in signing another Dutch goalkeeper called Robbin Ruiter that is doing the rounds at the moment. Maybe the Krul sale has legs.

    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-wir...in-ruiter-transfer-according-reports-holland/

Before the start of next season you can realistically see us having sold Krul, Colo, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Marv and Obertan and lost out on Remy... In the meantime JFK will have signed another loanee or 2. Happy days.

I don't see what's changed since the last headline with Napoli or whoever it was wanting Krul.
The club are still holding the upper hand with Krul being under contract until 2017, so we have no reason to sell unless a bid comes in that cant be refused.

The fee is the question, an £8m bid isn't going to get him but, at the same time expecting £20m is unrealistic. There's no reason to believe that Ashley is suddenly going to become a soft touch, which as we know he isn't when it comes to money, but £12m may be a starting point.

The going rate for very good keepers is usually around the £10m mark, so why would anyone expect Krul to be any different. In the past dozen years only three keepers have cost more, and they are the worlds best, which he isn't amongst.

As for looking at the likes of Ruiter, McCarthy etc, I would be well p***** off if we weren't looking for another keeper, if not to replace Krul, but certainly as a No.2 as Elliot isn't good enough by any stretch of the imagination.

Wouldn't like to see him go but AC Milan is difficult to turn down if you are Krul.

8 mill would buy Krul's little finger. MA is sure he can survive without one though.....

Agreed. He really isn't. Nothing against the guy but if we let Krul go this transfer window and relied on him to the end of the season we would be leaking alot more goals.

I really wouldn't want him to leave. As far as I'm concerned he is a big part of our current team's identity and would leave a considerable hole to fill if he left.

Listen as much as can't stand Shola if somehow (and I find this very, very unlikely) scores against the ****s in a few weeks - maybe a last minute winner I will let him play main striker for the rest of the season until we launch his wretched carcass in the summer. I can't say fairer than that can I?

Deal. If he scores the winner against our 'friends' he will be allowed a place in the starting XI until the end of the season and then we turn him over to you. <ok>
