Smithers, I agree that Jones going in the summer would have been the best outcome for us along with a few others I could mention. If he has been telling the manager he isn't available to play then we might as well get what we can for him failing that send him on loan to a division 1 team until his time is up in the summer.
Looks like Jones is joining the Toffees for £3 million. Could open a move for Shane Long as Hull also signed Jelavic, meaning they are no longer targetting Long.
Stoke 97 Where do you get that? I read telegraph and they were after him for £1M. 3Million would be good business. I also thought that Long was also headed the way of Hull?
What I read in the links last night was that Everton were prepared to offer £1m but Stoke wanted £3m. Just seems strange that Everton would want to take him. Jones attitude is what I don't like. Apparently he went on strike at Southampton when Sunderland were showing an interest in him a few years back. £40k a week and seemingly can't be arsed to perform for us.
There are two side to the Jones saga. Firstly: He was our record buy (at the time) and was injected into the team to score goals, an issue which was highlighted in the previous failures or persoanlity clashes of striker/manager. H was left isolated and never given the service he needed and was probably promised when TP talked him into coming. Passed over like pretty much every striker under the TP regime, his value and motivation was hammered. I am suprised Hughes didnt sell him in the summer but maybe he hoped he could salavage something out of the situation. Secondly: He is just a lazy idol fool who is raping the game for as much money as he can get and is quite happy to sit on the bench at Everton in place of Jelovic. Either way, it is another striker we can add to the long list of failures and bad business the club (or manager) has done since our promotion.
Well it looks like he doesn't want to stay under the new manager either, maybe he feels that he isn't valued or played enough, maybe he just wants to grab some more money while the chance is still there.
....but that's my point, he won't play at Everton. He will purely be a Jelovic replacement, and good business by Martinez, sell for 7.5 million by a sub 3 million figure.
Ric is right yeah I know he's joking (I think) but for God's sake he won't get game time there. I've not posted for a while guys, due to feeling pretty crap but not so bad now. Really pleased with the new guy coming in from Citeh and I'm told he will be in the squad for the Palace game. And Jones will not be travelling on the coach! I hope Guidetti starts tbh we may as well go for it! I've heard there will be quite a few Pulis banners saying, thanks Tony ect????????????????? IMO he's gone we NEED the Pts yes applaud him but GET behind the team.
This may derail KJ Sunderland's Steven Fletcher has seen his price come in from 20/1 to 5/1 to join Everton. Check out the latest betting.
...and it would appear (although I dont think any of us were that expectant) that Long is a no go aswell... We are hearing that Shane Long is poised to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal at Hull City later today.
It's a done deal with Hull now, he's a good player but a possible 7 Million no thanks. As I said I'm happy with what Hughes has done in Jan. If we sign another player then fantastic.
I like your confidence Ricc. We do have the ability within the squad to avoid the drop and to achieve our highest finish but perhaps I am pessimistic as far as Stoke are concerned and this season anyone from 10 down could be drawn into a relegation scrap. We need Bego and Huth back ASAP, stop shipping goals then with the personnel we have already we should be fine.
http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Stok...naco-striker/story-20458914-detail/story.html We've been linked with Emmanuel Rivière of Monaco. Don't know anything about him, apart from the fact he's a striker. Also read today that Agudelo is expected to go on loan at FC Utrecht in the next few days. http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Stok...n-FC-Utrecht/story-20458997-detail/story.html
Stoke L&P confirmed that Holtby was at the game. 2 options: We sign Assaidi on perm this window and get Holtby on loan or We sign him permanently
