"Siverware we don"t care....." is our theme song because we have never won anything. We therefore are pretty realistic about what a manager is likely to need to achieve "good" status.
Yours is a much bigger club than ours in terms of fanbase and with that comes higher expectations.Obviously Stokoe won the Cup so who else has been a success?
Peter Reid was good for you I think

Peter Reid put the best team together while I've been a fan (early 70s). Stokoe, obviously, and probably Denis Smith for his rescue act.

Di Canio for the entertainment value and O'Neill for the biggest disappointment.

TBH, we have an important game tomorrow and a cup semi-final in the week.

These threads come up once a week, on here, so I doubt you'll get much response.

WAs actually interested in the dilemma for managers of trying to bring success to big clubs that are outside of the top 6 in terms of finance. The crowds you and Mags generate must build up a feeling that you should be winning things when in reality the very top players will want to go to top 6 clubs until they are released by them.It must be difficult for the managers to rein in expectations and most clubs have a far share of lynch mob fans with fantasy dreams for their club.
A few years ago I read an article stating you had the most local fans whereas Spurs fans came from furthest afield. The article claimed the most money came in if your fan base came from a wider area.

The likes of Bruce timidly waved the white flag in cup matches despite knowing we'd never win the league.

Poyet, despite being in a relegation dogfight, has taken the cups seriously as the only chance we have of success.

It's Friday night mate for FFS and you post this thread. Have you done similar on your thoughts of other 'Big Clubs' boards? I ****ing doubt it..

You have have been snouting around here for a while now, little insulting remarks here, little insulting remarks there.

It's obvious the folly of the bulk of Sunderland fans think Bruce was sort of not that good, it's also obvious we are sort of getting out of the mire now and it's also sort of obvious that you my man are annoying the **** out of people (or folk as you soapy ****ers say), so get your tiger shirt on, you have a match tomorrow.. <ok>

Smugs mann.If I was tryin too ingratiate meself with the Mackems I wud try and write in a sunlan accent.I have seen someone who is a right plastic mackem and is desperate to ingratiate himself with them. The only clue I am giving is he was raised nowhere near Sunderland but thinks he can claim to be one of the lads.
Can you recognise the sad plastic yet Smugs?

If they're on about 6m for Long with six months left on his contract. If he had 3 years left, wouldn't that put Brucies value for him around the 36 million mark? Must do if he values six months of contract at 6million <laugh> Jalavic fee was undisclosed. God knows what he's gone and done <laugh>
