So last night at the dining table had an interesting convo with my son. Son: "yeah... Zach did bunny ears behind Stephanie's head not knowing what it meant." Wife: "it doesn't mean anything... what do you think it means?" Son: "you know..." Me and wife: "No..." Son: "it means meet me in bed at 2am" This sounds news to me... anyone else ever heard of that? Apparently to kids now doing bunny ears is propositioning them... just a short while ago took kids to see father xmas- my son did bunny ears behind my daughters head so I'm sure it didn't have that meaning to him then... of course seeing what my son was doing, Santa did Bunny ears behind my sons head. Anyhow... conversation got more amusing from there... we asked him what "meet me in bed at 2am" meant... First he said "art" and made the motion of one finger going through a looped finger... "What's art?" "Its when a man and woman get naked and go to sleep." "So what is the hand movement?" "That's art... sex..." "Whats sex" "You know... you and mom do it every night." "WE DO?!?! Tell us what you think sex is." "Its when a man sticks his penis in a woman's butt hole." Needless to say... had to give the talk after that.
The bunny ears thing meant you fancied them when I were at school. Guess it changes as kids make their own interpretations, eh smithy?
I thought bunny ears was a daft prank to someone on a photo like on a school photo, so they don't know until they see it. Honestly kids are losing their innocence way too soon these days. All kids get the sex stories on the playground from a young age, they repeat them without understanding what they are saying. Be careful you don't give him information he isn't really ready for.
10. We told him the truth about what happens... etc. Told him could not repeat to friends BC some parents would rather kids not know truth... warned him about negative side effects and not to do it till he's married (internally lol). I think in school we learned about all that stuff when we were 11 in biology class... ... not sure what age they teach sex ed here in the us though. Probably wait till kids get knocked up.
Did research on bunny ears... have different names in different countries: Horns, cuckold horns, bunny ears, donkey ears. Earliest example in writing was Shakespeare's time. Apparently back then if you made bunny ears behind someones head it meant that person was being cheated on by their spouse. Bunny ears started showing up as a regular photography prank in the 1950s. Presumably having lost original meaning by then.
I'd rather tell him the truth about sex than have him continue with the notion all married adults go to sleep with the mans penis in the woman's bum hole. The truth in this instance is better than what he thought the truth was.
I wouldn't suggest not telling the truth, just be as honest as you can be without giving him information he either can't or isn't ready to handle yet. Storks and gooseberry bushes are definitely out but imo so is the 'whole truth'. Kids here get sex ed. from 5 years old - starting with baby animals and advancing to 11 years old with diagrams of male and female anatomy. They get the 'science' and moral aspect of it when they enter secondary school, and depending on if it's a faith school, they get the religious moral lessons /marriage side too.
at 10... he made it up. if he were 16, which i guess he wasn't from what and how it was said then i'd be wondering but someone was filling him full of carp in the playground. your decision on the talk. can do no harm to know basic anatomy of women.
Which bit? In Googling rabbit ears I found several references online to the meaning 'you want to have sex with them'; so highly possible his school thinks that. If its the "sex is a man sleeping with his penis in a woman's bum"... again, I don't think he made it up... think that's some stupid rumour going around his school. He's actually surprisingly responsible for a 10 year old. My girls... make stuff up all the time... my son almost never lies... he neglects to tell us stuff all the time but almost never lies or makes stuff up.
Probably not... except... including clause about taking knife out to cut the penis off any guy that comes near her.
Its the downside to if this one turns out to be a girl. I would treat a girl different to my boys whereas the mrs thinks the rules should be the same. For example, I'd want to get a girls ears pierced whislt they're young but the mrs objects saying if we do that then both should be done too which is clearly wrong imo
