What I would say from a legal perspective (borign I know) is that Regulators are highly vigilant regarding gifts worth over a certain amount. Things like designer watches would certainly fall into that category. Yes, it happens all the time and No, that does nto make it legal.

    Yep CBK, spot on.

I feel fleeced that I can go and watch my club every week. The bonus is we are also Premier League, but there was a time 4.5 years ago when I genuinely wondered if I would be able to do it.

    NC, the fleecing bastard.

DTLW, do you have an Eterna watch mate? I think we should be told.

We obviously disagree about the ratio, but that is fine.

Let's discuss the negativity then. What would you like to discuss first? The boat? Ok, I think it is taking advantage of his relationship with a potential sponsor of the club. I hope he sensibly declared it to her majesty's inland revenue people as a benefit. IMO it hasn't been to the detriment of the club's progress though.

Now he has left perhaps the boat (is there definitely one?) will revert to the club...if it does, then it wasn't a personal gift.

Again, a perfectly normal thing for the CEO of a company. They do take advantage of their position sometimes you know, and they get offered bigger incentives than the rest of us. You know sometimes you get a bottle of plonk given to you at Christmas because you delivered the post well to a household across a year. Now multiply that. Same bloody thing. It's hardly the reincarnation of Lucifer. And how precisely has this negatively impacted Southampton Football Club (which is the bit that we're meant to care about).

I'm genuinely surprised at people's naivity over how the upper echelons in business operate. I'm still yet to be in any way surprised or offended by any assertion.

I agree LTL, I was just trying to open up and have the discussion that was suggested I didn't want to have. I tipped my postman though as I didn't think he'd want to carry a heavy bottle of plonk around with him. :cheesy:

And he accepted the gift? BURN HIM!!!!!

(And going by these assertions, the fact he did must mean he was bad at delivering the post? Go figure.....)

I don't think it is naivity, but tinges of jealousy. So many chips on shoulders I am beginning to think the forum is sponsored by McCains.

I'm never quite sure how to spell naivity to be honest. Godders, I need you! Naivitee? Naivitée?

Well he's said more interesting things inside 50 posts than you've managed in almost 7,500.

It's obvious Nicola can do no wrong in your eyes. If he invaded Poland it would only be in the interests of the club, I'm sure.

Never found him that interesting as he is obviously motivated by a huge rage he has allowed to roil inside him...means I disbelieve most of what he says. I actually feel sorry for him...sometimes you have to realise that you are letting someone you dislike ruin your life. Let it go.

Yes, I often get berated for having a dig at Cortese, but there are some on here who show an almost brainwashed loyalty towards him.

In my experience, its often the case with football fans that those who rarely go to games, feel sort of an inner shame about that, hence they feel they have to show their support in other ways, like plastering forums with as much arse-licking as any tongue could manage.

Actually, I have more of a dislike of the "Cortese lovers" than anywhere near a dislike for the man himself. I'm mostly ambivalent about him and the things he's done, but I feel the need for a bit of balance on this forum in the face of such saccharine worship.

I must say, I admire Redstripe in a weird way. He comes on here, posts a few bits of crackpot nonsense with no source ever mentiones and gets more attention than almost anyone else. He's very good at seeking out attention for his views, I'll give him that. You all help by engaging with him rather than ignoring him, of course.

Is the boat called Stugatz? If so, Tony Soprano may have asked for it back.
