Les Reed is now in the meeting with Poch and KL. Which means a sum total of bugger all in reality, but there we are.

Valid post, and a scenario that we were aware of. Importantly, Cortese was also acutely aware of this too, which is why it wasn't going to happen like that at Southampton FC. Notably, we weren't going to lose our best players. Possibly, we still won't.

The are several things that are beginning to interest me. 1] I have also heard that Cortese wants to stay in English Football. 2] Yesterday, he conducted meetings with all the department heads, imploring them to stay on at the club. 3] It's long been known that he can pull the financial strings very quickly indeed, such is his influence and reputation, should there be a need for investment. Hey, if the biggest Italian clubs are desperate for his signature, then his reputation for running things brilliantly isn't hot air.

Yesterday, although one might have hoped for an ideal outcome, I eventually thought we'd seen the last of Cortese at SFC. Today I'm nowhere near as certain again. It might take weeks, it might take months, but he might be back to carry on.

Bets on Cortese being chairman at a top Italian side next season?

It was nieve to think he wouldn't leave little old Southampton for Italy.

He might be chairman of a top Italian side next season, but from what I can gather that has absolutely nothing to do with him leaving Southampton.

Anyone else amazed at the detailed preparations Saints go through before an away match? Just read an article about taking own bedding and mattresses to hotels. Who knew this? saints staff clean rooms before players are allowed in. Weird!

Equally unless NC had complete control he wouldn't want it, would he?

Yes, it was posted on the forum some time back, about the level of detail that goes into what the club does.

Stelling has always been anti-Cortese (though in fairness, that piece is entirely reasonable).

Sounds like you have had some experience in the matter, which Premier team do you support?

Everyone. If it's the article I read, it's a new one with old bits about Away match attention to detail thrown in. Linked here some time ago.

In the club statement, Katharina said she was stepping in as CEO until a replacement could be found...would you do that if you were selling shortly?

    Yes, I would.

There was a CEO, now that CEO has resigned rather suddenly. But business doesn't just stop. Someone has to step in and take on some of those responsibilities if only in the short term, so why not the owner?

The tea was really very good today, better than expected with the news, that for now at least, MP is continuing. He knows that if he is to increase his market price, success is required over a longer period than a mere good start to a season. This should settle the players who, in my rather traditional way of thinking, should concentrate on their game and remain completely uninvolved in the kind of political power struggle going on. It's a dangerous game getting emotional loyalty mixed with the hard world of business. People who manage on the basis of their subordinates loyalty often prove to be fickle in their handing out of favours, and use it to increase their own position without benefit to those being loyal. My advice is to the players is keep out of the 'tweet' storm! Let's hope now that we can do the business on Saturday and be patient with the likes of KL in the meantime. NC was a breath of fresh air and will be again, he deserves our appreciation and best wishes.

Cycling teams have been doing this for years... NFL teams for years before them. I suspect other football teams do it as well, but probably don't see the need to publicise the matter.

The Club didn't either. The BBC did.
