What would be the point in signing Long? He only ever scores against us! The opposition score enough now, we don't need to sign someone to help them! l
So we should sign another couple of strikers, a centre back, and not think about how to get the ball to them? A 5-0-5 formation and just lump it up to them all to scrap into the net? From what I've seen this season the problem hasn't been that our strikers are missing every chance that comes their way, it's that we're not giving them any chances in the first place. To me that suggests a flaw in the midfield which should be addressed. Guthrie's no world-beater but he's a bit more cultured than Johnson, and if he does come it would be as competition not as our saviour.
that's a myth about Long, Dave, i can only remember him scoring twice against us (there's probably a few more)
Well RVW & Elmander have hardly set the world of fire. Just because RVW came with a big price tag doesn't mean he's any good? In fact from what I've seen of him I'd much rather have long or Jelavic in our team. Elmander... Don't get me started on him, I'd much rather we'd just kept hold of Holt at least he knew how to score now & again! The only striker of any note is Hooper.
As Max said above, we have strikers that are as good (if not better) than Jelavic and Long - the problem has been getting the ball to them.
Scored both for the Royals when they beat us 2-0 at CR in the year we went down to L1 - p*ssed it down that night as well so I got soaked in the walk up to the car and then he scored again for the Royals in the Championship game four seasons ago when we won 2-1 (last minute beauty by Holty - aaaaah). I think he's also scored for the Baggies against us in the cup if I remember right.
i think it's those two goals that effectively sent us to L1 that created him as an enigma against us!

I think that's a bit harsh, he has had some good previous performances, I personally don't think we have bad players, CH just doesn't have the ability to get the best out of them. Before coming to us RVW was a goal scoring machine, Becchio was the same in the Championship, Hooper in the SPL, CH just saps the talent and confidence out of them!
Elmander is no different from the other strikers as he's also getting **** service and even worse support. Those strikers need Pilkington.
I think when it comes to supposed fans calling City players shi*te then something is certainly twisted. It goes along with those who want us to lose to Hull in order to get rid of CH. It's beyond my understanding.
