we seem to be in that situation.... but in reality nows the time to push for 4th, not next may. so if we sign nobody we need to keep winning as you rise and fall by such decisions.
I totally agree. With the position we are in, we should be looking for one or two players that would help with the final push. but like a few of us have said, we shouldn't spend for the sake of it either. I'm sure we'll buy if the right players are available at the right price but there doesn't seem to be much available ATM. I also think we have a restricted budget and qualifying for the CL won't change that too much, qualifying regularly will.
But what if those players are not available? Should we compromise and sign players that are not good enough? Of Course not!
and i agree with you on that... if there's nobody there's nobody... but we're talking full backs and holding players. we can fill those slots from own resource. Its the lack of even a sniff of a really quality player coming in that leads us to be worried. Again if rodgers find himself in march with suarez's leg hanging off and sturridge playing through ankle pain... and moses is his option.. he lives and dies by decisions now. If we say really the option is to overpay by at least 5mil for salah who we are not sure does anythign extra for us... well why bother. but if the thing is 32mil not 30mil for ivan rakitic.. thats another matter. Fans have long memories and short ones too. deliver 4th and nothing else i think nobody will care who we didn't buy. deliver 5th and they'll blame it all on january.. oh why didn't we. results kept ferguson going, avoided all abuse for letting him team fall around his ears... he got away with 3 years while mourinho came in and then they were back... just an example Had wenger not got ozil... would he still be in a job? who the f knows...
Has anyone else noticed that many of the local journos (Barrett, King, Hunter) have all been quiet this window - the club aren't leaking anything to anyone, which is good IMO. Expect deals to happen towards the end of the window - Sturridge was the exception to the rule.
Yes, its very quiet. even RHC's mate says nothing doing and he's a manc. I guess not expecting anything and having the team winning is much better than lads screaming for players and us losing...
If we don't get anyone this window and ignoring league position for now, what would people prefer to see happen in the summer? Three or four good players arrive or one or two top players?
Tricky one because I feel that there 4 spots that need attention: LB RB DM RCB (less priority) Would prefer 4 good players - i.e. Sakho level.
I'd put Sakho in the top player category I'd go with the two top players and look at retaining what we have. Or buy to sell for any other recruitments. Fair shout
Damn you! In which case, I would prefer we bought 2 top players in the summer. DM is priority as is a full back.
I'd go with two top players with CM (perhaps more DM) being priority. I did add that sell-to-buy could be in addition too so that could make it three top players (purely fictional of course)
Badu has come out and said he would love to play for LFC. Hmm, where there is smoke there is sky me thinks?
