If that doesn't suggest it is a poor idea then nothing will.

How many matches has this person attended?

Not unrelated at all. There's a reason why Allam gave £100k to Labour.

I listened to Prescott this morning on Radio 4 and his logic was, if you don't change the name, Allam will go and the club will collapse.

    What a load of ****e.

Don't let them ruin your club, first it will be the name, then he'll add a tail onto your shorts, where does it stop?

I remember Prescott being introduced at Boothferry Park at half time, maybe doing half time draw or something. He got a bigger boo than Dolan used to get.

What's really grating me is this link between being Hull City and dropping through the divisions or Hull Tigers and staying in Premier League.

We could drop through the divisions like Wolves or Sheffield Utd as Hull Tigers or we could spend the next 20 years in EPL as Hull City. The name won't effect the results.

Does anybody know if Robert Crampton, the person who wrote the pro-Allam article in the Times is the son of former Labour MEP Peter Crampton and former Labour Councillor Margaret Crampton?

Interesting, CC - on R4 Today he both supported the idea of 'taking the fans with you on a decision' and AA's 'right' to do what he wants (as our saviour).

The Independent article claims he's East Hull MP (he stood down in 2010); calls him a lifelong supporter - born in Prestatyn, lived in South Yorkshire and saw Hull City (1950 with Raich Carter) when they played his team, Rotherham; arrived in Hull in 1965.

Allam's calling on political powers now.

First, Courtenay & Deano, and now Two Jags.

Imagine them lot all getting together.

Nice picture and good one Castro...however, I've also seen the photograph where Mr Allam is stood on full honorary doctorate gown with the Hull University Chancellor ex Tory Secretary State of Health Virginia Bottomley. It doesn't mean much...

He is indeed, plus he and his wife Nicola are old school friends with Allam's oldest daughter Eman. He often mentions his trips up to Hull in his column in the Times magazine on a Saturday (an entertaining read to be fair) and only last week was going on about them getting an invite to the directors box for the Manchester United game (they missed kick-off and pre-match meal because he didn't realise it was a 12:45 start!).

I know he's also mentioned getting invites to the Allam squash tournaments in the past as well.

Except Virginia Bottomley, who has about as much connection with City as Prescott, but probably knows more about football than him, isn't offering her irrelevant opinions on the name change.

One I think, he said he saw them in the fifties at Rotherham when Carter was playing. He is a ****er and always will be.

I'm not interested in his opinion Castro though I understand why the Today programme asked him on. He was a sitting Hull MP for 40 years, he still lives here, his wife is from Hull, his children were born in Hull, his peerage includes the City of Hull. You wouldn't consider that a connection? Virginia Bottomley as lovely as she is, has no connection with Hull whatsoever, and doesn't live here. Her peerage includes the Isle of Wight. You can hardly compare their connection with the city, you are way off there. Though I might be inclined to agree with you about their knowledge of football.

To be fair, when you see either name, Prescott or Bottomley, both conjure up an image of an arse.
