I agree with this. I greatly appreciate the things Nicola achieved with Saints, but it is clearly unfinished business.
I've heard of the crying-whilst-masturbating combination being referred to as a "Crank", which is obviously cry+****. But I prefer to call it a "Blub 'n' Tug". I totally came up with this myself and so am very proud. You are free to use it of course, just as long as you remember I invented it.
It was never going to work in the long term. Cortese is a banker, they're the bad guys, remember? So he was always going to be incapable of returning the love some Saints fans felt for him. The only thing important to a monstrous ego like Cortese's is Cortese himself. He couldn't have left us at a worse time nor in a worse way. So in the end, thank you very much Nicola for all you did for us while our interests coincided with our own. Now **** off.
I'm a lot less bothered than I thought that I would be, maybe it's because I knew that deep down that Nicola might abandon "his baby" one day. I was deeply shocked and saddened when Markus passed away and angry when Nigel was sacked, today I feel gratitude but that is all. I thank Nicola for giving the club I love back it's dignity and status within the game and I wish him future success which i'm certain that he will achieve, but the club's soul remains intact and I will still support the club to the hilt whatever happens now. COYS!
We know from past experience that you never know what is round the corner. The problem for me is that Nicola sold us a plan and everyone bought into it. Our players undoubtedly play above themselves...we don't have a lot of out and out stars that top clubs have. Now we are facing the unknown and at a time when there are so many crooks about. I cannot see myself loving an owner like Markus or believing and trusting in a Chairman like Nicola again. We have lost our Man with a Plan.
Hmm, indeed. Remember when you used to express your nervousness about the long term chairmanship of Cortese, and I used to suggest that you stop behaving like a dyed-in-the-wool nervous Saints fan..? I was wrong. You carry on Fran.
I can undrstand the owners wanting to remove some of his power to other employees. Any other business that employs hundreds of people with turnover in the high millions would be cconsidered a big company with different HODs reporting to one CEO. NC seemed to want control of everything so some would say he was a bit of a tyrant, yet he was doing a really good job so those knocking him seem somewhat jealous of what he has achieved and what his vision was. My only gripe was the banning of cameras for the U21 and U18 games- and how petty is that?
My first reaction was "Oh **** ...." as I could see a horrible domino effect. NC goes, followed closely by MP, followed by several players before the transfer window closes and then a horrible slide down the table (cheery sort aren't I?) But after today's press conference, I feel a lot better. MP bought into the plan & so did the players - and they're all staying (I hope). We have much to thank NC for - there is no doubt that he's been the driving force of our remarkable turnaround, but as others have said elsewhere on here, he ran the club as his own personal fiefdom. At the end of the day, he was just another employee and in a fight with the owner, there was only ever going to be one winner. I'm sorry he's gone, but I now see this as an opportunity.
Exstastic and it should have happened sooner. Vile man and he duped many of you with PR to make it all look his own work, yet was rarely seen at St Marys ! A big hand clap to the staff at staplewood and St Marys who have lived in fear of a some complete weirdo thinking he was something special.
