Yep. They wanted out as soon as we stayed up. Cortese called for more time and funds. They funded this summer's deals but still want out.
You can't say that's 'clearly untrue', much as you can't say it's clearly true. I think it quite likely when something like this is announced that an emotional reaction took place - sod this, I'm going - much as we ALL had (except for PTF) when Adkins was sacked - "I'm tearing up my season ticket/never watching Saints again" - doesn't mean it will actually happen.
Yeah, but Le Tiss said as soon as Cortese leaves then some shocking stories will come out about him, so we've got that to look forward to.
Regarding the NC leading a shining knight takeover - I think if MP goes we can put that rather delicious fantasy to bed. If he stays on past Saturday....well.....perhaps it might just have legs.
I don't really mind if we are sold tbh. I just don't want the following to happen. 1) We sell to any random person that could put us in the ****. 2) She doesn't asset strip the club of all that has been built up.
It is possible that NC isn't as squeaky clean as we all assumed - this is something I've had at the back of my mind right since the beginning but always dismissed it. However things turn out, I don't think Tiss was right to go about his business the way he did though.
If the Liebherrs want to sell that's not necessarily bad news. New owners could either be a good thing or a bad thing. The exact reason for Cortese leaving is key here. If he's resigned because there's a deal close and he thinks the buyer would be bad for the club we may be in the ****. Poch must really be looking forward to 3pm!
I wonder if we're going to get the stonewall "Mr Pochettino will only be answering questions regarding Saturday's game, thank you ladies and gentlemen."
I would be surprised if there was a mass player exodus, only two weeks to the end of the window, not getting paid is not an issue. So if I were a player I would at least give it the end of the season to see how things develop and if I decided it was time to move on, then there would be more time to make the right move and right deal etc. PS - Might have to change my user name
Jesus, what a day yesterday. As I have today off can anyone tell me if the press conference is live as usual??
Of course there may have been things going on that we are not aware of, but the club statement said that they tried to talk him out of going, so doubt he's blotted his copy book. I think the main issue is likely to be that Katherina wanted a return on some money...either by selling the club or a player (aka Luke Shaw). We mustn't forget that Saints is a business...perhaps Nicola was sometimes guilty of that.
Players are on contracts...generally for them life goes on. They may be unhappy, but they will be training again (after a heart to heart meeting) and they'll turn out on Saturday. Sunderland must be rubbing their hands...so must BT as they are televising it.
