Looks like Graham could be heading out

DANNY Graham’s future at Hull City has been placed into doubt after a couple of clubs sounded out Sunderland about taking the out-of-sorts striker on loan.

Despite the departure of Egyptian striker Gedo back to his former club Al Ahly, and with Nick Proschwitz continuing to attract

interest on the continent, Graham’s future at the KC is also uncertain.

Graham ended his 11-month goal drought, stretching to 28 games, with his first goal in City colours in the 1-1 draw at Swansea back on December 9, but has struggled to get a start since the 3-2 Boxing Day defeat by Manchester United.

Having only featured as a non-playing sub for the 2-0 home defeat by Chelsea at the weekend, the 28-year-old has this week seen his spot placed under even

further pressure by the arrival of £7.5m record signing Nikica Jelavic, and the expected signing of Shane Long from West Bromwich Albion.

With manager Steve Bruce certain to start new signing Jelavic in Saturday’s trip to Norwich, that would put Graham out of the picture for a second successive week.

Parent club Sunderland are closely monitoring the situation and could opt to invoke their recall clause.

After investing more than £5m in the hitman in the last January transfer window, the Black Cats don’t want to see his stock diminish too much as they remain keen to recoup a sizeable portion of the fee paid to Swansea for his services.

While manager Gus Poyet will not recall Graham to aid his side’s relegation fight, he would be willing to loan him to a Championship club chasing promotion in a bid to get him on the goal trail.

Bruce and the Tigers are aware of the interest in Graham and are also monitoring the situation closely as his departure would free up another loan place and allow City to borrow from a Premier League side.

If Graham were to leave the KC before this weekend, it could allow the Tigers to scour the market for another loan addition whilst they try to wrap up the finer details of Long’s protracted move.

City have agreed a fee with the Baggies, but are now trying to iron out the finer points of the repayment plan in a bid to find a stance which suits the needs of both parties.

The Tigers are known to like to pay most of their transfer fees up front, but the chase for Long may see them stagger payments to allow them to free up more cash in the short term.

Whether that would mean City boss Bruce being handed even more money towards his transfer kitty remains to be seen, but if a loan space did become available City are believed to be keen to use it.

Unlike some I don't like to rubbish our players at every given opportunity but seeing as though Graham isn't ours I'll fill my boots.

f**king useless beyond belief and if we can get rid ASAP I sincerely hope we do.

What sort of 'striker' goes 28 games without scoring?

We've got midfielders( who are actually our players)who score a lot more regular than that, mind you they still get slagged off no end by some.

No good, get rid.

Who the **** has looked at Graham this year and gone 'yeah, we could use a guy like him'

 

I just like the idea of not seeing him in a city shirt again.

We won't miss him and it will open up another loan spot for someone who will play the part. So its a big yes from me to hope that he does go

 

He's been worse than Mclean I think. They both work hard, really get themselves about, but at least Mclean found the back of the net every once in a while.

 

Graham's a good player, just well out of sorts, shot of confidence. You can see he has ability in his general play, he gets himself in to positions where he can make things happen, just every time he does he falls to bits and ****s up catastrophically.

The amount of times he's had the ball played to him in a good position where all he has to do is control it and lay it off to someone for them to have a clear chance and his first touch could be described as a hoof is unreal. Same goes for every time he gets himself in a good shooting position his first touch could just as likely end up with our goalie as row z.

We've persisted and he's not managed to pull it off here, better for us and him both if he goes elsewhere, a short stint in the championship will do him the world of good where the spotlights not on him and without all the pressure of the premier league. If he drops down and bangs them in again he'll be back playing well in the premier league.

What article, there were a few a few days back where the media were jumping the gun a bit

 

If it is older than a couple of hours, it's bullshit.

 

Its the same info that has been out all day. That a total has been agreed but that no bid has been accepted as they are bickering over how the payment would be structured.

 

I stick by it.

Jelavic is the same situation. Good player, been there done it, now well out of sorts. Admittedly when both were at their best Jelavic was a different league to Graham, but Jelavic has been ****e for longer, playing more often (since turning ****, Graham's obviously played more recently) and in a far, far better side than Graham's had the luxury to play in.

If Graham is a donkey I dread to think what Jelavic deserved being called these last 18 months.
