A great plot for a blockbuster movie in a few years time, perhaps a Musical version, any thoughts on the cast?
I really want to know what the **** has caused him to resign. So many conspiracies swirling through my mind.
I was thinking more like Wikus in District 9, coming back on that alien robot pussy slayer gun machine and then sparking some soldiers whilst guiding us to the mothership to save the fokin prawns.
I'd like to see him at Atletico, he's the man that can really end the Real/Barca dominance in La Liga.
Why do people keep thinking Cortese will come back? I know he is a Jesus like figure but these messiastic predictions...
I'm inclined to look at the positive side, every decision taken during the last 4 and half years has had a positive affect on the club, i know Cortese made most of the decisions but Katerina is clearly a clever person, you have to be to run a multi national company. So lets have faith that this has come about with the best interests of the club at heart and we can carry on moving up! At the end of the day its the club that matters, and either way i'm convinced we'll succeed
until he started going on about cranes. and then about becoming a vastly wealthy head of a multinational business, which of course was achieved by inheritance or that that MALI empire hasn't gone into meltdown, when apart from a placeholder website it appears to have been wiped from the face of the planet. did cortese really know nothing about football? I was under the impression he had been involved in sports finance, involving football. not that Katharina isn't a competent chairperson. i've no idea.
So is Katherina a businesswomen herself, similar to Markus? Or did she just inherit his empire? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I was never sure. If she no longer wishes to fund Saints and wants to sell I would certainly not hold that against her. As Marlin says she is unlikely to be acting on a whim here, so maybe we will learn more about the reasons in the next few days, and it does seem as if this has been more long term than we knew. And no one has any interest in lowering the value of their businesses/property. Whoever ends up in charge, there are enough brains around to make sure things work out.
Yes, he knew about the business of football, but it's true he had never run a club. It was all the more refreshing that he hadn't because he had no baggage to bring. His approach was one of pure business and how to succeed the fastest way possible, but sustainably so. He'll take some replacing.
it's not going to be easy to find out. the whole mali thing was a mystery business, which was estimated at 3bn just because that's what his share of the family company would have been worth at the time and it was just assumed his investments had kept up.
Interesting read, but not sure about the initial doubts about NC, we really didn't have enough time for doubts. We were on the brink, the countdown was reaching an end, then suddenly this smart looking suit turns up with his tebbybear looking friend, & it all panned out nicely! But yeah, there's a point in there & hopefully Liebherr jnr will surprise us all with some top quality decisions.
Not saying that it was unexpected, but it was the timing and the method that caught us unawares, the spat in May was a good indication that all was not well, it is all too easy to make things up as to why, it maybe that NC became over obsessive to fulfil the dream and demanded money for signings, when it didn't materialise he had figured he couldn't complete the task and threw the toys out of the pram, it is possible he wanted it more than the majority of our fans did! We are not used to the heady heights of the Premier, we got here a bit quicker than we expected, it's been a great ride, now we will have to sit back and take stock and see what comes up. Poch's decision will be a big turning point.
So your world ends when Pardew and Adkins are sacked but you're positively chipper now? No surprise there.
Cortese knew all about the money side of sport inc football but that isn't the same as actually running a football club. My view is pretty similar to the Saintsweb poster in that I'm not expecting a massive implosion. The only thing I disagree with on the thread is the assumption that selling players is going to lose them money in a sale. If Fulham is worth £150m (and they may well go down a division, have a crap stadium, have a small gate and no academy) then we must be worth more than £100m. If they sold Luke for £25m, Adam for £15m and Rickie for £8m are we seriously saying the club would only be worth £52m???? I can see a scenario where selling 3 or 4 players would bring in more than the club's value would lose!!! say they got £50m for 4 players and then sold the club for £70m!!!! We are after all talking business here........... ...........and we have been harping on about Cortese being a hard nosed businessman for a few years now. We should be getting used to how business works now. I can't see anymore money going in now. If we buy it will only be from funds already under the club's name or borrowing against the club until the business is sold.
