Im currently in denial. In my head i have an oceans eleven styled montage of Cortese, Markus, Pardew, Adkins and Poch all laughing at there great success and cunning scam. The scene cuts to Katharina realising Cortese now somehow owns the club outright and the whole Liebherr empire... Then in ten minutes Cortese hacks into every news station to broadcast the news and everyone is happy! I can dream
"We will again become a Premier League club. The supporters and the City of Southampton deserve nothing less." - Cortese - July 2009
Right now I'm just worrying about how long we have to wait to find a buyer. Has this happened today because Katharina is about to open talks with someone? Or are there in fact no prospective buyers identified at this time? We really don't want to spend too long with a chairwoman who doesn't care for football.
So my "ITK" pal who told me this was happening because we were being sold to Dalian Wanda has just elaborated. Not only are they buying the club but they are also buying the now empty Ford factory at Eastleigh as a site for our new, larger home. Of course, he could just be pulling my wang....
We have a chairwoman(we'll need a bigger chair), how fantastically progressive of us. The club statement doesn't suggest that the club is up for sale. Obviously the biggest concern at present is Pochettino. I hope that he sees sense and pledges his immediate future to the club. Even if it's purely for financial reasons. MP stays, we hold on to players for this month and hopefully the picture of the club will be clearer come the summer. Hugely disappointed and thank you Nicola
I think we all need to keep our nerve (and ignore the obvious pathetic WUM attempts). This is bad news, there is no getting away from it, but.... Compared to the situations we have faced before we are in a much better state. We haven't been relegated and are not on the point of being liquidated, the last time I looked. We already know that it is possible to replace a well-liked manager and yet prosper on the pitch. We can all speculate, and indeed many have, about the reasons for all this but let's wait and see.
