As long as he doesn't try to re-register back here I won't go looking for him.

Southampton under Cortese: 2 promotions, a cup win, a climb of 58 league places, three club record fees paid, new training facilities.

All achieved in four and a half seasons.

It is the end of one era, time to welcome in the new one. Another rough ride for us, but that is the peril of being a Saints supporter, if things don't change they stay as they are, move on please, keep your chins up, just hope MP stays the course, he is going to be very important in the next few weeks, never saw him as a quitter..

If Ben Smith and a few others are correct, and Cortese resigned 3 months ago, then surely Katharina would have had time to search for a Chief Executive. It's not something you can take a long time about, it is a vital role at the club.

I wish it could have lasted just a little bit longer.............. 30 or 40 years perhaps.

Gutted about Cortese leaving. Wonder what Le God will have to say about it.

Adam Blackmore: "Current situation at Saints reminiscent of when Jack Walker passed away at Blackburn."

Now, Nicola needs to go away, collect his thoughts.......then come back with one of his little investor buddies with a nice little business plan & a hypnotic DVD for Kathy.

As things stand, the only way I can see it happening now is if, in time, he returns as the head of a consortium who purchase SFC off Katherina. But it doesn't look as though she really wants to sell, at the moment. There's too much up in the air for clear speculation, let alone clear thinking.

Maybe now Cortese has finally gone, Le Tissier can spill the beans. He did always say when Nicola left Saints, he would say.

The club would be worth more with NC at the helm , he is a very astute businessman maybe he has left to prepare or his "plan B " . Im hoping he will be orchastrating a buyout with some backers seeking a cheaper deal with a view to invest in players something the current owners i believe are not keen on. I sincereley hope this is the case , this could be a momentary upset that leads to greater things.

Well, it won't win him many friends. Everyone knew the character he was. But he got the results.

I don't think that it's an impossible scenario, if the Liebherr family is truly looking to sell.

It feels like an amazingly well written soap opera. Cortese being the protagonist hero with a giant master plan. How does his story end? Hopefully with riding in with new buyers... Nothing has ever happened as it did because he didn't want it to...
