i can't believe after recent performances and injury proneness you still think Rose is better than BAE. Crazy
Benny is not at QPR on footballing grounds but for disciplinary reasons, I thought..... and Rose has been a 'prospect' for 3 years - about time that he started to produce the goods as a PL defender I would suggest. And as for Cooper, he was a good but overrated fullback who got an undeserved England berth over our own Cyril Knowles, who was a far better all round footballer.
I always assumed that those who were saying that Rose was as good/better than BAE had to be judging on something other than experience of watching them both play. It would seem that this is still the case.
Clive Wilson done a good job for us, when Gerry Francis came from QPR to ourselves, if you remember he brought Clive WIlson, one of the most composed and classy full backs even at his age!
I still have nightmares of Cyril Knowles kicking over that Hudson free kick to send Chelsea to Wembley when Chelsea were second best! Cyril would regularly have a rush of blood to his head. I did enjoy Benny's overconfidence. That can't be bad for anyone.....but I'm still not stuck on Danny....yet!
Talking about Chelsea,I remember the Chelsea fans in the 60's in gangs wearing their "bovver boots"!Scary isn't it?They are probably fathers or grandfathers today........!
Hey Bossman. I thought that Carroll might have turned the corner last week but unfortunately he had his worst game for us yet, yesterday. He's really struggling with the strength of the players in this division and strange as it may seem considering its only the Championsh*t, he's struggling with the tempo. Here's a snippet of what they're saying about him on our Board: To give it some balance, this poster "SB" reckons he's being scapegoated: I know you rate him highly Bossman but for whatever reason it just ain't working out for him here. It could be that he's not really that good but more likely its because he's surrounded by sh*t. Either way, Redknapp's done him no favours bringing him to QPR and chucking him in at the deep end. I'm not sure this experience will be good for him. I think it may knock his confidence and set him back a lot to be honest.
"Either way, Redknapp's done him no favours bringing him to QPR and chucking him in at the deep end. I'm not sure this experience will be good for him. I think it may knock his confidence and set him back a lot to be honest." Similar was said during his brief stint at Derby too. But such is life. If he cannot deal with it with you, he can forget scenarios like next week where as a Spurs CM he would be facing Yaya Toure. One assumption on going to QPR would be that he would get some 'Arry love' when such days come.
No offence Swords, but maybe there's something that the fans are missing that Redknapp can see? Your record with Carroll in the side is W8, D2, L2, a win percentage of 67%, according to Soccerbase. Without him the results have been W8, D5, L4, a win percentage of 47%. That's quite a dramatic difference across a reasonable range of games. I hate using stats like that to make a point, but given the lack of QPR games that I've watched this season I don't really have much else to go on.
Good points there boys. Poll, those Stats are very interesting. Like you I'm not overly impressed with statistics but certain ones cannot be ignored and that's one of 'em. My theory in that he may well be a good player but is struggling because he's surrounded my mediocrity is supported here: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/246202-Thank-God-for-Charlie!/page2. I put your post up there mate and SB has responded insightfully. Ignore his first sentence though!
Interesting link, Swords. Quite strange to see people questioning Redknapp on the back of a win when you're in 2nd place, though. Not sure what's expected of him.
Indeed mate. Certainly looking in from the outside it would appear ludicrous. And to a certain extent it is. Some guys want to see us playing like Brazil and sweeping all before us, destroying sides by 4 or 5 goals every week. But the truth is, every single week we play sh*t yet somehow, and only God knows how, we keep winning! Personally I couldn't care less as long as we keep winning but there is a fair argument to suggest that sooner or later our luck is going to run out and we'll tumble down the table. I hope not though
It's easy for us to relate to that over here Swords, as it's basically what we were experiencing under Villas-Boas for most of his tenure. Let's hope for your sake that it doesn't end up going the same way!
You can't take these posters too serious when they say he can't pass. Over reaction from some of your fans. When at Spurs he made an impact against teams like Arsenal, Fulham , Everton and in the Europa league so I know he can perform at this level. But good to hear from that last poster as Carroll must be an easy target, same as Redknapp as I've had a look on your board a few times and they seem to be first to get blame when anything goes wrong. Redknapp can understand as he's the manager but it doesn't sound like the fans are fully behind him. Anyway I know Sherwood will give him his chance with us next year so whatever happens at QPR happens. It won't effect his future.
Assou-Ekotto showing a slightly different mindset to his colleague in yesterday's game:
The thing is Bossman, they're actually telling the truth. He can't pass in our team. His completion rate really is poor. But when performing with better players around him and against other "footballing" sides like those you mention, he's obviously a different player. The last poster you mentioned made this point in the link above. We had a Real Madrid player with us last year, one of Mourinho's favourites in fact, and he was awful for us. Utterly awful. And he'd just come from Real Madrid! He couldn't play with bad players but shone when good players were around him, anticipating his passes and making runs etc. I think the boy Carroll falls into this category.
Well I would rather Carroll has doubters in the Championship and performs at Premier league level and we discussed this before so we on the same page there my friend! Hopefully Redknapp is telling Carroll to ignore the fans getting on his back as he won't be the first player to be doubted by fans.
