What? So you can't have any entertainers visiting the city who are a bit on the old-fashioned side? How ridiculous. He's touring a lot of places other than Hull; should they all refuse him entry?

Agreed. Should we turn away old bands just because they are old?

TFT and OLM agree, and now I am agreeing with Polly. <yikes>

Must be something in the water.

Culture doesn't just grow on yoghurt's and culture isn't just for the posh.
Comedy and plays are also cultural for the working class.
I saw a Chubby Brown Tribute act in Benedorm one year..................... not really my cup of tea, but some jokes we're funny.

This is publicity folks - he's hardly going to be quoted in the HDM saying that he goes down badly in Hull - and saying Hull is 'special' cos its working class is just a bit of buttering up.

As far as I'm concerned his act is racist and sexist and not particularly funny but thats just my opinion and if other people want to pay their money .....

I love how racism, homophobia and bigotry is innocently being described as "old-fashioned" here :emoticon-0182-poolp

I also love how He's not anyone's cup of tea but most still find him somewhat funny. <eek>

Some of these are still quite funny...

My uncle just got struck off the medical register for having sex with his patients, it's a real shame cause he's a really good vet.

Woman walks past a pet shop with a sign reading 'For sale clitoris licking frog' She goes in and the shopkeeper say's 'Bonjour madame'.

Yesterday I read an article about the dangers of drinking too much, it scared the **** out of me. So today I decided I'm never reading again.

Little girl gets lost in Tesco's, security guard asks her 'what's your mum like?' Little girl replies 'Big cocks and vodka'.

A couple in a cafe in Llangollen asks 'Can you settle an argument for us and pronounce where we are, VERY slowly?' The waitress leaned over and said ......'Burrr gurrr king'.

Larry la Prise who wrote the hokey cokey has died aged 93. The worst part was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in, then the trouble started.

Paul McCartney poem-: We lay upon the grassy bank, my hands were all a quiver, I slowly undid her suspender belt and her leg fell in the river.

British comedy has always been sarcastic and cruel.

One of the funniest stand up comics of the last 50 years.

Normal people find his humour hilarious.

Are you suggesting that it isn't old-fashioned?

I find some of his stuff quite funny, but he isn't completely my cup of tea because too much of it is obvious and not particularly clever. Nowt wrong with that.

    'Exiled in the south'?

I imagine you savour Penelope Keith and Richard Briers giving virtuouso performances as Margot and Tom in 'The Good Life' (The DVD complete set)

    Define very long way.

Is it like Marfleet to Winestead?

    Why live in a ****hole?

Cash in your winnings, your missionary work and come back to sanity in HU.

It was a great place to live (as was Hull) but I've now retired to the south coast thank you very much...

PS My nephew lives in Southcoates lane and last time I visited it wasn't a **** hole

It's a bit too effete down there, although Cornwall and the so-called Jurassic Coast are <ok>
