First thing I'd say is if this is true, I would expect the fee to be at least £5-6m Personally I don't want him to go, but I wouldn't be devestated if he went. He is a very good player, but quite often I feel he has to be in the mood for playing. if he isn't, then you may not see him in the game much, and get quite fustrated. I also feel he misses a few too many 'easy' chances. He's not the natural finisher Vydra was. What I would say in his defence though is he is almost playing a different role last season. He had Vydra who was the more advanced forward and he was a bit deeper, whereas this season, his partner has generally been someone who is deeper so Deeney is the main focus up front, and I personally don;t think it has suited him. Saying that, he will get you goals - 11 this season! If he does go, I'd like to see us reinvest in a couple of strikers. I've heard rumours of Billy Sharp and would also look at Adam Le Fondre - but I can't see either being on our radar
I know he's liked by many fans but personally I'm not a big fan. At his best he's competitive, but too often of late he's got quickly disheartened and the body language and constant nagging of referees and other players is energy he should be applying elsewhere.
I wouldn't be that keen personally if it was anything like £5-6m, and in truth that probably wouldn't be far off. He's a good age, and obviously had a good season last year in a style that suited him but I'm not sure about his attitude or form. If it could be done for £2-3m, which it never will be, then it would be a good risk to take.
To be fair he had a much better game last night, although he should have buried a couple of his chances. I cannot understand why The Steptoe's would need him, after all they have got Andrew (Andy) Johnson and Zamora - why do they need to replace that quality partnership?
This all seems a bit odd - as far as I am aware he hasn't asked for a transfer and had he doen so i doubt he would ahve been captain last night. I can only imagine they made a bid today and we accepted. I wish him well - on his day he is brilliant as proven in THAT game last year but as others have said he can be a bit withdrawn and when it's not going his way loses focus, argues with refs etc. From a personal point of view I must admit I don't want him joining them and being succesful. For some bizarre reason my local has morphed into a QPR pub at weekends and all their games are shown live in there so I could do without the continual reminder. Ideally, if he is to go, I'd like someone else to gazump them at the last minute.
Here's the real reason Deeney was spotted - doing a sell job by the looks of things. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9118995/?
i heard 3.5m. i think this is a rumour, i can't see QPR wanting him, but i have a feeling he might leave in this window, after all the talk of him being a disruptive influence at the training ground...though he does seem to have started improving again in the last few games. I definitely wouldn't be shocked to see him go though...
