Racing tomorrow comes from Lingfield and Kempton (AW) with the jumps coming from Newbury and Newcastle. My hedging bet will be at Newbury (14.25) but this time I will keep 1 point back in case of a springer. Restless Harry 1 point 4/1 Tullyraine 1 point 6/1 Crikey, those odds have changed since I looked not long ago. I'm sure it showed Railway Dillon and Financial Climate as the 2 favs. Should have got on earlier.
WOLF SHIELD 3:20 Newcastle 16-1 is back down to the mark that he won his Novice Handicap off and I give him a fair chance tomorrow. He won his bumper on very soft ground so it should be safe to assume that he will handle the heavy going. Not a huge bet but looks a tasty each way to me!
1.50 Newbury Brother Brian Edit: seen it at 7/4 this morning which I'm not taking. Can't take it at that price.
That looks a tricky little puzzle to solve Stick - good luck with your selection. I'd be on Simarthur if there was any evidence that he could handle the ground, but a nice ew for me would be the 16 year old Sphinx at 25-1. H ran no sort of race LTO, but as it was after a 400 day absence, there is every possibility that he could outrun those odds tomorrow. And talking of old-timers, I see that Tullamore Dew is still entered in an interesting race at Newbury, the 2-25. Surely he won't be turned out again so soon after what was a pretty hard race? I certainly hope not, these old boys don't need flogging to death! The one I'm liking in this event is Winds and Waves, who's last run was a PU when quite fancied, and assuming that Henry Daly has sorted out what was wrong, I think the 14-1 with Lads is too good to miss
Do you think Sphinx could have some improvement in him then Reebs? LOL Tullamore Dew dual entered in case today fell foul to the weather. That race is a minefield. I would want 4-1 Restless Harry completing let alone winning. YELLOW BALL the interesting participant!
Hmmmm interesting, having looked at his form, 14/1 does seem generous compared to some of the others. A contender for my saver but I'll wait for tomorrow to see if there is a gamble on.
Evening all ap mc coy riding one for Ben Haslam at Newbury diaktorus remember when he used to ride for his father pat had a great record when he did so will be investing a few shillings on this one.also see frank spencer has six well fancied rides as well personally I wouldnt back them with someone else's money so he will probably ride a five timer best of luck to anyone brave enough to back any of his mounts happy punting
If I recall Edwin tuer was pleased with that run and stated that the horse would come on for it -but wants bottomless ground!
some decent ish racing today(compared to recent fare)--which makes it harder to be uber confident - The newbury 2 25 is a competitive affair on paper-some unexposed sorts and some decent handicappers-Winds and Waves i thought was a sure fire winner last time--only to be PU-trainer offers no reason?-- after a very bright start the stable have gone a bit off the boil so to speak-so i will leave this horse today--but will go with Financial Climate -for the converse reason-stable in top form, CD winner and has put two wins together before. 2 50 NC-- gone for Rose of The Moon- dropped in grade--a quality horse. 3 20 NC -Romany Rhyme-- was moving like the winner last time when brought down--have to give it another chance. 4 25 K- Mr Chocolate Drop--bit of a chance on this one--like all at this level are risky to say the least--a CD winner who ran okay lto--could pop up today! as ever good luck --ps--will post up any silly small bets i make later....
Morning, team. Big news of the day is that Tiger Cliff will not be going over timber in term 2013/14. He will instead remain on the level and be aimed at some of the top staying heats on the Flat this year. Makes total sense to me as the prizes this improving stayer could win on the Flat far exceed what he could pick up in humble novice hurdles. Old girl Lady Cecil though must be going mad as heâll remain in the county with Alan King for the Flat campaign and sheâll surely believe he left her barn for nothing! I wish old boy Henry Ponsonby, the forumâs second favourite owner, well with this one and he could ultimately prove the best Flat horse the county has had for many a moon. Meanwhile hereâs a quiz quest for the great and the good. What is the most significant thing about this weekends meeting at Taunton??? First correct answer wins a âBarney Bonusâ.
Well clearly some money for it (now 8/1) so I'll have 0.5 point saver on Winds and Waves at 8/1 Well spotted Reebs, if it comes off.
Correct, Stick. Excellent answer. You win the ‘Barney Bonus’. Amazing to thing that its taken them 87 years to get a Saturday meet! Cocktails at Dawn taken out at Market R tomorrow, incidentally, people. But look out for him when he does go off the ridiculously lenient looking perch of 119.
Morning folks So here we go, lets see what we can find today: 130, Ling- Bowie Boy 235,Ling- Izbuzhka 1250,Kemp- Dawalan 335,Kemp- Baby Shine BIG doubles on both and a Lucky 15 , Good luck all
On another note, this may sound strange but of those of you who went to the Arc this year, Me and 2 friends met to blokes at the bar (bear with me ) who were form London, lovely chaps who said they go every year.I wondered if those ‘blokes’ might have been someone from this forum??? Bit of a stab in the dark but thought I would put it out there as you never know. ( you wouldn’t forget us 3 as im Ginger, one is fat and the other looks like the kid from Gremlins lol)
