Jenkins fires Ki warning! Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins says they still have the option of recalling Ki Sung-yueng from his loan spell at Sunderland. The South Korean star is on a season-long loan at the Stadium of Light and only days ago Black Cats boss Gus Poyet revealed how relieved he was when the deadline for him returning to Wales had passed. Poyet said: "Swansea had an opportunity to call him back, and they didn't. "That was a difficult day for me because I was waiting and waiting." However, Jenkins remains convinced they can still recall him if they want to and with a host of injury problems, there is increasing pressure on the Welsh outfit to do just that. "He is our player and we can recall him up until January 31," said Jenkins. Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has previously said he doesn't want to bring Ki back, despite his impressive form at Sunderland. Swansea, meanwhile, are slipping towards the bottom three, where their employee has helped Sunderland off the bottom. So there we are then, Laudrup's not interested, but Jenkins is? The way I see it, he's too much of a talent not to bring back, and our midfield is bare, so in my view Jenkins has called this right, Laudrup needs help, and he needs Ki back!........... Yep. Laudrup is wrong on this one for me, but what would be the point of bringing him back if he won't get on the pitch ?
It reminds me of when Dobbie went to Blackpool? I don't care for the politics, Managers always have their favourite players, and there are always those players that know they are better that the player being selected in front of them, it's a difficult issue, and it's at the heart of why Ki kicked off some what, but at the end of the day I rate Ki a better player than De Guzman, but that's another story, the fact is we are getting thin on the ground in the midfield, and we could do with him back, if we are not careful this situation could come back to bite us on our rear, could get very embarrassing!............
Not sure what is going on here? Anyone know the detail on the rules on the season long transfers? If we recall Ki can we play him? Is Jenkins trying to get some cash in on Ki? before bringing in other transfer targets for Laudrup? I've got more questions than answers here, need to sleep on it!...........
ML made his comments before Canas went down and maybe Tiendali. Anyway I am a Ki fan; many aren't. But under these circumstances we really need to bring him back. Of course, this might be HJ's way of getting Sunderland to pony up the cash early.
I'm thinking Huw is on the money trail, no good bringing him back if we can't play him, or if Laudrup won't play him.
Laudrup's comment about him only being on the bench was odd, and confirms that there is something personal between the two of them, as surely a manager would have a look at how Ki has improved before stating whether he's good enough to get in the starting line up etc.
To f*ck Sunderland up, our relegation rivals? Would be worth bringing him back just to put him in the reserves if it's true regarding the heat between him + ML. As most have said ML will most likely be gone in the summer anyway and Ki is a tidy player.
Yes but if you remember he did say the same about Shelvey before he bought him, I think he was talking before the current crop of injuries occurred and may change his mind, no big deal .
If ML has the hump with KI there are other more professional ways of dealing with a player, but leaving him help our rivals is madness as it was in previous seasons with Dobbi out to Blackpool and I think DG went out on loan too when we had need of them here ! There's 16 days left of Jan, were short staffed which could get worst quickly eg. What if Bony gets injured next game ! We've brought no one in yet and may not knowing the management team. It may be a game of brinkmanship to get the most money for KI as the deadline nears but as you know Jans not a great time for good deals on transfers and unless we break the record again we are more likely to be gambling on a possible duffer. So their probably counting on free or loan signings from god knows where ! There's no consistency due to a lot of factors against us this season but survival is crucial to build up the kitty for strengthening as going down with a whimper is not acceptable after all that's preceded this season.
It's a good thing (For Manchester United) that Fergie didn't take the same stance with Wayne Rooney aye. Ki is a tidy player who could certainly help us out especially at this time ...
How many loan players do we currently have? Is it Lamah only? I know there's a limit of loaning 2 players but can't remember whether that's just within British clubs and you can have loads from outside the UK a la Watford last season. Personally I'd bring him back just to screw up the mackems but do feel he can perform for us.
Jenkins comments are not contradicting Laudrups. Laudrup said previously that he wouldn't recall Ki, due to the fact that many of our injuries are due back in the next couple of weeks. This was also prior to the Canas injury. Don't forget, Pablo and Lamah (?) are only out for 2 weeks (?) Michu is back in training. So we are not desperate. So Laudrup is right, we don't have to call Ki back. All Huw is doing is responding to Poyets comments saying we had our chance, and we didn't recall, making out we had no choice, as if a deadline had passed. Which according to huw is not the case. I honestly see nothing wrong with what has been said by anyone other than Poyet claiming we missed the deadline.
Ki has a far better killer pass than De Guzman, that much is obvious, If he does come back, can we play him though? I'm not sure we can!.............
http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...star-Ki-Sung/story-20445105-detail/story.html What the f**k is going on mun ... I seriously hope JENKS is right here otherwise I'll struggle to have any confidence in him ever again. And yes DPJ Ki over De Slowman every day of the week at least he doesn't take 10 minutes to complete a sideways pass.
Nothing new in any of that, and certainly nothing suggesting rift, arguments or whatever. Ki is becoming something of a legend in Swansea for what he has done elsewhere. But in the 30 games he played for us he didn't, I don't recall him coming close to scoring and after most performances was derided by the fan base. As soon as our short term injuries are cleared he'll be back on the bench or in the reserves. Personally I think HJ is slowly applying pressure on Sunderland … if you want him for the season you'll have to make the move permanent.
