I'm quite inclined to at least listen to or pay some degree of attention to a respectable journalist like Ben Smith from the BBC, if you don't mind. He's evidently close to the club and the BBC have a strong reputation with SFC.

Just because we don't want to hear it doesn't mean we should he ignorant about reports.

This forum would quickly go downhill if we could only post potentially positive rumour or report.

Am I only allowed to post things you'd like to be true now? For goodness sake TSS.

Isn´t this the last year on his 5yr contract?

Maybe use of the media to sort that out sooner rather than later...

No, but you almost seem to be bloody gleeful about it. Give somebody else a chance.

Not quite sure how you interpreted it as gleeful from a brief description of the story...

If he does leave we will be sold with in a month. Hopefully it's just Cortese wanting more transfer money again.

Eh, I suppose it's not impossible Cortese could find the Liebherr family difficult to work with. It's perfectly plausible that they either aren't really interested in being involved in football at all or that they don't want to (continue to?) provide the levels of cash the club needs to progress. Or perhaps they want to cash in if/when large offers come in for players? I'm not convinced Cortese would walk away completely though. This could easily just be Cortese looking for more investment or it could be something more. For what it's worth the story linked to above reads like something a player's agent would plant in a tabloid.

I expect to see a club statement in a few days once again denying this crap.

Story also being carried in tomorrow's papers. They say Cortese has made his mind up and wants out, regardless of any financial offer from the Liebherr family.

Look. I have never been one to anticipate failure or disappointment when there is little or no evidence of it happening, other than rumour, or when there's precious little one can do about it if it happens. All it does is make people miserable, so why should one be put through the emotional ringer when it is probably bullshit anyway. If Cortese may be leaving in the summer we can debate and shed tears about it then.

I know you are a budding journo, but FFS, I'm trying to enjoy this season, OK..? I don't need what ifs cluttering up the horizon.

What I will say is, look, this has come from the exact same guy as last summer - at the BBC.

The same BBC reporter who interviewed Jay last week, who got the Cortese stuff last summer, the Pochettino exclusive etc. etc.

On that last occasion it appeared a game of brinkmanship. Round two?

Same thing I am thinking. But why can't Cortese say to the Liebherr's give us some money or sell up? This whole I am leaving crap is annoying if it is all brinkmanship.

Not quite sure why you're expecting DTLW, or anyone for that matter, to ignore this TSS? If you want to enjoy the season whilst your fingers are in your ears about rumour and wide speculation, I don't think a forum is the best place to be! Perhaps just watch the games on TV with the sound off?

That I can quite easily believe, and I would almost expect. We know Cortese is a smooth operator who always gets his own way. I wouldn't mind betting that he is manouvering the club in such a way as to bring in a buyer to release the Liebherrs from their responsibilities. If you remember several years back he said that if he detected any drop in commitment he would find investment elsewhere and there would be people ready to come in. In fact, he knew of people ready to come in, there and then. After all I've read and heard over the last few years, I don't see Cortese walking away. I do see the Liebherrs dropping out at some point. Maybe 5 years is that point.

Would make some sense, seeing as Markus and Nicola laid down a five-year plan.

Upon Markus' death (rest his soul), they did say that arrangements had been arranged, and that his family were tied into the five-year plan.

Long as Cortese is here I don't mind the Liebherrs going. Least with Cortese here we wouldn't get some dick head as a owner.

The worry is if those investors are already in somewhere. Wasn't he linked with the pozzo family a while back?
