    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!

Literally the WORST player we have ever had at shooting (special mention to Zokora too) is coaching our forwards?

So Soldado, Townsend et al have been following Freunds' coaching to the letter.
Blast your shots anywhere into the crowd but not the net.

    It all makes sense now.

One of the exercises he loves doing is getting them to shoot into an empty goal. Ask notso if you don't believe me because I pm'd him on this about a year ago. No goalkeeper, just shooting into an empty goal. He believes it gives them more confidence seeing their shots hit the back of the net.

    True story.

If this wasn't coming from you i'd be cracking up right now. I'm not, because its true and its happening at Spurs. That totally explains Townsend's ability to nail the centre of the goal from anywhere.

I don't really know what to say about this.

Perhaps Freund should give the forwards a gun each to fire at an open goal.I'm sure this will give them even more confidence!

It would've got a point in Aussie Rules, though!

    Jesus H Christ!

    I take it all back!

Please, get big Les in with the strikers right now! Get him to teach Soldado how to leap like a salmon, pronto!

I think Soldado believes it is unfair for him to break into a sweat for any reason!

So our strikers can't hit a cow's ass with a banjo and Freund is coaching them. I'm sure the two facts have nothing to do with each other. On the bright side, I'm sure Soldado is great at jumping around like an idiot.

The news about Freund is utterly dismaying. Are there actually any positives to him being at the club? All we seem to hear is him being a fool. Wasn't there a whole thing about him not getting the players warmed up properly before matches as well?

It is with great sadness guys that I have to verify this post! :(

It reminds me of another of Freunds confidence boosters., this time for free kick practice. Put one of the mock free kick walls up.....and leave half the goal to aim at! If I hadn't seen it myself I wouldn't have believed it....yeah lets start with adult professionals shooting to the side of a wall!, getting over a wall comes next year, its a bit complicated that, lets start at the beginning here boys and girls!

I've also seen Fruend involved in the session where he's laying off cushioned passes on the D for incoming players to shoot...yet there were other forwards standing round dong nothing, why not let one of them practice lay-offs?!?! our tight area one-two's leave a lot to be desired most of the time.

  18. Had I been made aware that Les Ferdinand, a rather decent striker in his day, was at the club but not actually coaching strikers, I would never have started this thread and slurred his good name. Indeed, it was because I made the (very reasonable, I believe) assumption that Les, if he had any role at the club, must be involved with the coaching of our attackers, that I brought into question his usefulness.

In fact, it's AVB - and now Sherwoodie - that I have to question.

How on earth can it be that we have a ex-player of Ferdinand's striking qualities - an area in which we are currently struggling with - at our club and not use him to coach our strikers?

    It beggars belief.

It isn't actually obviously true that someone who can do something well is good at coaching others to do it. It may be that Ferdinand's coaching skills are motivational rather than technical. But the whole thing is bizarre to say the least.

Clive Allen is still at the club too right?

Maybe we should get Klinsmann back to wash the training kit
