Hull City owner Assem Allam has threatened to walk out on the club if the FA fails back his plans to change the club's name. Allam wants the club to drop the 'City' from its name and be known as Hull Tigers - a move that has provoked widespread opposition from the club's fans. However, Allam is unrepentant and says he will pull his investment out of Hull "within 24 hours" if his plans are blocked. "No-one on earth is allowed to question my business decisions - I won't allow it," he told Sky Sports News. "And I'll give you my CV to give you comfort and show you what I have achieved. "I'm here to save the club and manage the club for the benefit of the community - it will never, ever be the other way around - take it from me. "But the community can say "go away" and I will go within 24 hours." When asked what would happen if the FA said he could not change the club's name, Allam said: "The same thing. It's a free country. Seems a bit petulant, but I can't see the FA vetoing the name change and I can't really see the fans telling him to go either.
Posturing. Besides, haven't we been here before with this Hull City lark..? To me, clubs will be known by the names I've always known them by, whether it be Hamilton Academicals, Airdrionians, or Queen of the South. There's enough distinction in Hull City simply because it is Hull and not Swansea or Manchester or Lincoln. I wouldn't want to get all precious about it, but who'd want to have their name suffixed by Tigers anyway..? United, City, even Academicals was named from reasons of history, unity or distinction from another team close by. Now Wanderers is one that is slightly lost on me.
Just seen him on SSN. Seems to me like this Jelavic deal could be Assam making a "you need me" statement to the Hull fans.

The way he acts (and the nutter at Cardiff) does make me question how these twats have become so rich. I can't believe they have made rational business decisions in the same manner as their football ones. They either have been very lucky, or very bent, or a bit of both. Whole game is riddled with them, English ones as well. The Bolton owner saying yesterday that it "isn't a problem" that Bolton are £167m in debt. Despite the fact that his personal wealth is allegedly less than that. Hope the FA refuse the name change. I doubt they will, because they are the worse culprits of all as far as sucking up to anyone with money (whether they really have it or not)

Incidentally, does anyone know of the few football clubs in the top 4 divisions that are not called after a place..? And don't say Everton or Aston Villa.

T sounds to me like the owner is a bit of a bully.........Is he really going to pull out and lose that which he has already paid? No somehow don't think so. The other thing for me is .....Do we really want owners like that involved with football? The next thing we will be hearing is, "if you don't turn up to the matches in the numbers that I want I will pull out". It is bad enough that he wants to change the name but to try and blackmail the fans into submitting does not suggest a fit and proper person to be the owner. Have they made yet another balls up?
It's just a way to hide a huge shopping mall in a London park, which would be better off left as a park!
