which would introduce some much needed competition. they could play together in a 442 but it may not work as they are similar players. we also seem to want AJ to go and get another nippy forward in as well which would be perfect.
Further info from Facebook @TransferSpoiler: QPR's first offer for Paul Georges-Ntep was rejected. I'm told Ntep is happy with contract offer. Down to QPR & Auxerre to agree fee @TransferSpoiler: QPR's offer was €3 million. Borussia Monchengladbach made an offer a bit more than QPR's also rejected. A bid of €6 million will be enough
Would be great signing as would Rhodes. I know Arry has said he is chasing one striker but If we get the chance to off load both Zamora (to Turkey) and AJ (to Sunderland) we should take it and sign two young strikers. We have coped pretty well so far without either Aj and Zamora for the bulk of the season so they would be no great loss.
That is perfection Devon rarely happens but fingers crossed, however I still think Harry will sign two strikers if possible.
We won't get Rhodes, the bookies are just speculating with their 6/4. That article today is old hat, we've been short odds on him for ages. I think it's unlikely that Rhodes will leave in this window at all- but if he does, I'm not sure a PL side would be willing to take a punt for 8mill. Which means he's only ever likely to move to a rich championship side....thus, us.
Not seen it before but that is fantastic poetry. If it's you who did it then hats off to ya, well done. I miss that Swords Hoppster fella though...
Right I'm off to Weds v Macclesfield Cup Replay. Hopefully Weds mauling of MASSIVE Leeds was a blip and they will be back to being generally useless just in time for our visit.
It was Swords Hoppster wot done it We just got a mention on Eastenders (kind of). The big bald geezer said he "felt about as welcome as a Chelsea fan at Loftus Road round at Bianca's the other night" Is Soopey one of that show's writers?
Barry Byrne ‏@ByrneBarry 2h French media confirming that Ntep did fly to London for meeting with QPR at weekend. Reports that he was impressed. This guy is always spot on. He's not an "ITK", he's an R's fan living in france who follows their press closely.
Looks like we have a bit of competion, as usual http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2014/paul-georges-ntep-the-situation/ Paul Georges Ntep: The Situation Get French Football News aims to explain the transfer situation with regards to Paul Georges Ntep after speculation about the player’s future has in the past days spiralled out of control. Get French Football News understands that Paul Georges Ntep met with QPR officials over the weekend to discuss a possible move to the high-flying Championship side. According to L’Equipe their current contract offer is better than that of Rennes’, but more on that below. QPR are yet to have a bid accepted for the player, their first €3m offer was rejected by Auxerre over the weekend. Harry Redknapp’s side were told by Ntep’s representatives that only an offer of €6m (including bonuses) will likely be enough for the player. Whether or not QPR will make a second bid for Ntep in the coming days remains to be seen. Get French Football News understands that Bundesliga side Gladbach have had an offer of an undisclosed amount rejected by Auxerre, understood to be worth a little more than the offer of QPR. Ntep’s representatives have also been in contact with the German side about a possible move although it is understood that the player wishes to either stay in France or move to England. Premier League leaders Arsenal enquired about Paul Georges Ntep’s availability before the January transfer window opened and it is possible that they had a meeting with Ntep’s representatives over the weekend whilst the player was in London although we are unable to confirm this. We are also unable to confirm RMC and L’Equipe reports that Ligue 1 side Rennes have made an offer for the player with both media outlets reporting slightly different bids made. Get French Football News can reveal that Marseille were in contact with Auxerre last summer for the transfer of Paul Georges Ntep, who was their Plan B should a move for Florian Thauvin have failed. Two other Premier League sides in the form of Hull City and Everton are understood to have made enquiries for the player with the former looking more likely to make a formal bid. Newcastle United had representatives present to watch Paul Georges Ntep play last week, but did not take the immediate opportunity to discuss the possibility of a transfer with Auxerre. Meanwhile there are two interested Serie A parties that we are aware of with Genoa making an enquiry for the player. AS Roma are also understood to have ear-marked the player as a possible target. Finally, if reports in France are to be believed, then there are echoes that PSG, Lille and AS Monaco are all considering an attempt to sign the player, with the latter club ‘very interested but because they have a number of attacking midfielders and wingers in their squad already, it is understood that Ntep does not prefer a move in the ASM direction.
Does he remind you of somebody else??
Re: Young , hungry strikers - a number seem to pass through Huddersfield Town - Jordan Rhodes (now Blackburn), not quite so young James Vaughan (from Everton), Nahki Wells (from Bradford), now Joe Lolley from Kidderminister Harriers.
