Morning all from a dry and chilly West West London - woken up again in the night with the rain pounding on the windows, I expect the hose-pipe ban will be lifted soon!

What an odious creature that Alan Pardew is...

Morning all, rain overnight but it has perked up now and the sun is shining. You can feel that there is some warmth if there is little wind, with the temperature reaching 18°C some afternoons.

How are the bionic bits BB? Can we put you down as training with the squad yet? ;)

I'm thinking of 'inventing' a new name for the problem - Abdi's Foot Syndrome. Whilst I can definitely say the operation was a success, it hasn't achieved the heights of success i was hoping for - but that takes time apparently, and the time taken varies in each case. I can walk up to around half a mile without a problem, but then the pain takes over. So no training with the squad yet. I doubt I'm ready for the rigours of a classroom on a full time basis either.... :(

You may not know but we have gender quota in work here so all companies should have 40% directors women. When the law was made there were 22% and now ithe number is near to 24%. The minister for industry wants to know why the percent figure is not more. Anyone could say you cannot unemploy someone because they are a man or because you need the right person for the job. We have sex discrimination law which clashes with this and there is never any thought of merit and ability. Also companies need time to make this work and three months is not long for laws or working lifes.

Thanks for the caramel latte Ak, could you not get 16% of the men to cross-dress?

The accursed Affirmative Action for Women..... I've suffered from it in the past a few times & you're right, it doesn't necessarily allow for merit and ability. I once sought legal advice after being told in writing that I hadn't been selected for promotion as the winning candidate 'was a woman and the department were required by law to increase their presence in managerial positions'. I think the HR person who wrote that was later removed from her job....

Don't know if anyone has seen this, but I just spotted it on Twitter...

The only reason for employing some one should be based on their merit and ability to do the job, it should be a business decision not a political or social one etc. Likewise you should not employ some one just because of their race, sex or some other lefty reason.
