You got one question that matters and two choices, either yes- you want Hull Tigers or a no- you don't want Hull Tigers. Simplicity just like any vote should be. It's more than the club's doing.
It looks as if someone will have to come up with a system to vote that will encompass all fans, otherwise it can't be ruled as a fair and complete vote.
Yes, unfortunately it would. As soon as something as badly flawed as this appears, it seems to become fair game. In any event even without attack, the fact that it is open to one makes it untrustworthy and therefore worthless.
It's a fairly simple question, do you want the name to change or not? If you don't care either way, then simply don't vote. Though it does seem rather ridiculous if you can vote more than once.
Canvassing the whole customer database is as valid as canvassing season ticket holders only & requires the same level of cooperation from the club. A large section of new season ticket holders are not City supporters.
I believe it was the Premier League who said they like to see a vote of all season ticket holders. The club database is ****, we only have details for the past couple of seasons, anything beyond that has been lost.
They still have my details from over two years ago. Even if this was the case there's many on that database with better credentials regarding their long term support than many of the new season ticket supporters (plastic touts.)
For anyone that's interested I've checked and it seems three dots was being true to form as far as his honesty goes. He was lying. As I put earlier in the thread, there are checks and balances built in to the survey that stop low grade IT types having multiple votes counted.
We have received a couple of emails from concerned Hull City supporters at the FSF, and to address your concerns about the vote: While it may have looked like multiple votes were being cast by some individuals, Surveymonkey routinely logs the IP address of each vote and so allows us to identify suspicious voting patterns and remove duplicate votes. This process has been completed, with the removal of duplicate votes from a very small number of IP addresses. The survey should now routinely block any attempt to access the vote multiples times from the same device/IP location. To address the claims of one particular user who believed they had automatically cast 4,000 votes - we can categorically state that this is not the case. If you have any questions, drop us a line at [email protected] Thanks, The FSF
You're not wrong: People might have missed this post because I had to approve it so I'm just quoting it to make sure people see it. Interesting.
In terms of surveying current season ticket holders - which seems to be what the PL wants, yes there are faults in terms that those who may have been season ticket holders for the past 50 years but had to give up their ticket due to money issues will not be counted AND that "plastics who only support us in the PL, so only have a season ticket for the 3 seasons" will count. BUT whatever system is chosen for the vote will have people whinging that it favours one side or the other, but (sorry to use two buts in the same sentence) if it is to be the ultimate survey of Hull fans then it needs a way of proving that those who vote aren't either my mates (in favour of the change but they only watch Rugby) or Obi's mates (against the change but they only watch Ice Hockey) and the season ticket solution does appear to be the fairest. The question though is what percentage of season ticket holders do we need voting to get a definitive answer - as some will not vote, ideally I would say 80% as long as long as there is a 20% margin of victory as that would be majority of fans (maybe just)
The club could have allowed the OSC to hold a ballot of those attending the Chelsea match. they could have provided facilities for them to do that and there would have been no agrument. Flash your card/ticket and you got a vote. All question about the validity of the voting system would have ended if done fairly. The vast majority would have been season ticket holders with a small minority of Hull born Chelsea fans. What did the club do? Told the OSC not to do it. The FSA are holding a vote, good, but all doubts about who has the majority could have been settled at the KC last Saturday against Chelsea.
Again why does it appear fairest? Surely the fairest option would be to reach out to as many supporters as possible. To canvass season ticket holders you would need the cooperation of the club (highly unlikely). If the club were to cooperate then it would be just as easy to canvass people who are on their complete database rather than just a select few off the database. Including supporters who have bought tickets for individual games, block game deals, supporters who have used Tiger Leisure, Tiger Travel & bought away tickets would be just as simple as well as reaching out to City supporters everywhere. It could be left to individuals to register an interest in voting (again cooperation from the club would be necessary). To have their registration accepted there would need to be a proven link to the club. (eg Customer reference number). Once registrations have been completed then have the vote. Of course the stumbling block would be convincing the club to participate in a poll that would undoubtedly not be positive to their own views. Suggesting season ticket holders only should vote is a cop out, although irrelevant as ultimately it's the club that will cop out.
I can't help thinking some of you are putting too much stock into a poll of fans views. Sure, I think its an element the FA may consider, but with a relatively small weighting. The most important influence on their decision will be the pitch and plan presented by Ehab and the club. As it should be. Polls like this, and the rest for that matter, are easily cheated, no control over if its other clubs fans voting, if people are mischief making etc. They're a small snapshot of sorts but only a small part of a big decision for our club. The fans do not run the club, and whilst we're important, we're just one part of a greater whole. You need more than just passion and enthusiasm to run a football club successfully. We can't even decide on this very forum on formations or even who the 11 should be each game, let alone the running of a football club.
Have we got a definition from the FA yet about what is "Consultation with the fans", the issue with doing it on a particular Saturday (when the campaign group knows it is likely to happen), is that any unsold tickets would be purchased by either those who will automatically vote for or against and may leave the game after a few minutes as they are not fans, which is maybe why the club will not allow it - they suspected there might be foul play, as they would see maybe a lot of strangers buying tickets. And has anyone seen Stuart Blampey recently as still waiting for answers to my 2 questions
