I remember an interview with John Sheridan in match magazine. q) What if anything scares you? a) Ian Baird in a five a side match
Don't you remember his tight shorts. My mrs went into melt down when he bent down to place the ball for a goal kick. Met him at Carlisle when we visited in L1. Great bloke.
You've got me wondering now Glory, I'm sure we played Oldham home and away, then Charlton Away at Birminghams St Andrews ground in the final, got to the FA cup semi final in the same year where we lost to Coventry if memory serves me right
We played them in a two legged play off final and when it was all square it was a decide at St. Andrews I am sure. Yep it was the same year as we were nearly squished in leppings lane, and I am not joking. There but for the grace of god were we. It was truly terrifying how tight we were jammed in that day.
****ing Ormsby! Having said that the poor fecker is recovering from a stroke at 53 yo! Showed us round ER on in November, a bit bitter about how much players earn these days but is a funny guy. Hope he is making a good recovery.
Found a youtube clip. I was right. Though I got the score wrong. I thought we lost 2-1, but we lost 3-2 aet.
Look at clip you posted. It's ormsby that didn't put the ball out leading to their second goal. He injured his knee in the playoff decider and didn't play for the next 8months. It pretty much finished his career. Scored a great goal against qpr in the cup run. Look it up on YouTube ell.
A great quote from around '85, Not much noise in the kop, leeds not playing well, some bloke shouts out: What we need is a big daft centre forward, We signed baird the following week
