If those things you brought up were examples of your company breaking the law, that'd be a damn good thing to do, and something they'd have no right disciplining you for.

On the BBC Sport website there's a video up about important penalty foul-ups. Beckham's were notable by their absence. The man has real influence it seems.

I can't imagine any employer would look too kindly at that kind of thing, sadly.

To be fair to Beckham he did slip on the wet turf whilst mid-kick. Far more shocking penalties have been taken without a legitimate excuse

This was in a penalty shoot-out if I am not mistaken. Later in the shootout, where plenty of others had scored, the opposition goalkeeper came along and scored. Yes, Beckham's exaggerated technique that he used to use probably did mean that he'd be more prone to slipping, but we are finding excuses for a top player to badly miss a free shot from 12 yards. Puncheon's was no worse.

Perhaps we're talking a different penalty. I was thinking of the one against Turkey in Istanbul (think it was a play off or final group match)

cool, nice to hear the opinion of someone apparently more tuned in with this sort of thing.

so not proof of wrongdoing, but i'm not sure how JP could claim to have reasonably beleived that without producing some evidence to that effect at least. (JP would also need to convince someone he's a reasonable person edit: no, misinterpretation, scratch that)

many people think of warnock as a nasty piece of work but this sort of specific hasn't done the rounds AFAIK.

The FA say they have launched an investigation into allegations made by Mr. Puncheon.

The FA are so sporadic: Osvaldo three game ban, Rogers fined, Pardew ok. Puncheon investigated but Barton not, it is so variable.

I'm enjoying Joe's little law talk. I did defamation and all that last year and yeah, highly unlikely Punch will or could face legal repercussions. Joe covered it good and proper.

He obviously felt Warnock had his favourites and didn't select players on merit. As much as I don't care much for Mr. Warnock it does sound like a bit of a crazy conspiracy theory from Jason.
Think it's right the FA investigate this and question Jason as to whether there is any evidence which may exist of whether it's just changing room gossip from the other QPR reserves.

Is it connected with the complaint from agents that a manager (admittedly PL) was forcing youngsters to sign with an agency connected to the manager or they wouldn't play. Similar idea....I don't like the idea of corruption in sport, so hope not true.

I think that complaint was one of the other not to be mentioned managers and his favourite senior player.

A bit weird. Why would a manager not pick his best team? Even if there was money involved somehow. Not playing your best team just isn't going to work out!

Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon has been charged by The FA for Twitter comments he made in relation to Neil Warnock.

It is alleged that in posting these comments, Puncheon failed to act in the best interests of the game, and/or acted in a manner which was improper, and/or used abusive and/or insulting words in contravention of FA Rule E3[1]. Puncheon has until 6pm on Thursday 27 February 2014 to respond to the charge.
