Afternoon chaps. I'm having a very slow day working from home and thought I would pose a little question about Cheltenham to generate a bit more discussion but maybe take the chat away from the Champion Hurdle thread slightly. As of today, Monday 13th Jan 2014, what is your best bet for the Festival? Can be any race. Any horse. Just what you think is the best value or the most likely winner or whatever other criteria you work off. I think Faugheen has been the best bet for a quite a while now but there's been issues about which race he'll head for. Is it Neptune or Albert Bartlett? I'm very hopeful he runs in the Neptune following mutterings from the yard and rumblings from a few Irish experts who I trust. Faugheen 6/1 Neptune Anyone for anymore.
Bob as I mentioned yday 9/2 for faugheen in any race could be the safer option.i'm on bobs worth in the gc at 7/2 and I think he will take all the beating, only rival I can see putting it up to him is silvy conti but bob will prevail!big schu in the cross country at 7/1 is an ew steal.are any of the main st bookies gone nrnb yet,I know bet365 have but couldn't be arsed opening an a/c!
Unfortunately 365 are only NRNB on the championship races so far. Bob, I reckon Neptune would be the route for faughern. Briar hill looks like going for the 3miler. Personally I have mentioned before that I fancy melodic rendezvous at an each way price for the champ hurdle(40s available and 50s on betfair) In the novice chaces I am very fond of dodging bullets for the Arkle and Taquin du sueil for the jewson. Will wait for NRNB till I place those 2 bets though
Unless it's a speculative punt on a longshot on Betfair I don't particularly see much value in the markets at the moment and probably won't place any more ante post bets now. I've had a nibble at Moyle Park and got a nice sum on Hurricane Fly at 13/2, that'll do me for now. Might have a look at some of the specials from my bookies though - got a nice bet on last year at 9/4 for Sprinter Sacre and Simonsig to both win
I had something similar as well Oddy. I think you might be right about the ante post markets. They could have lost their flab so to speak. I suppose a lot of people will be looking for the handicap markets to form.
Ive got 12/1 Faugheen for the Neptune but 6/1 is probably still a fair price, could be 11/4 on the day, wins at 9/4
I wouldnt bother taking the 9/2 any race, I think its about 1.05 he runs in the Neptune, Briar Hill is a bit of a plodder and he will be much more suited to the Albert Bartlett. Ye never know with Mullins I suppose but ill be shocked if that isnt the way they go with those two.
Ive been looking for races that Dell Arca can run in, think the County is the only option for him and 14/1 could be a reasonable price. Not a great price because its probably going to be about 8 or 9/1 the field anyway but I think he could still be well handicapped, was just starting to creep into the race when he got brought down at Ascot.
BetVictor go NRNB for 4 races - CH, World, CCh and GC I'm on Apache Stronghold ew in the Neptune at 16-1, as I was very impressed with his last run .... but Faugheen is a deserved fav on his performances to date, and even that 6-1 could be a snip.
I've taken 12/1 Briar Hill to win any race at the festival and as I put on a thread yesterday one of the best bets surely has to be Big Bucks at 4s
Just checked and i didn't in fact have anything on Briar Hill, its Moyle Park at 12s to win any race, sorry about that
Pipe's horse King's Palace will win the Albert Bartlett ................ just waiting for a Mullins hotpot to come along and push his price out
I will say this very quietly but the best bet at Cheltenham and a real bit of value is the 25-1 on offer for GRAND VISION to win the Pertemps. Actually the best bet is THE NEW ONE at 8-1 for the Champion Hurdle, hope you were listening LOL.
