Don't like that idea, there are so many incorrect calls made by refs that a team could end up down to 10 men for no good reason. Why is Platini always looking to change footy? Someone needs to point out that we all like it as it is.
Tell him we'd like it better without him. What happens if more than one player from a side transgresses? Do they play with nine or does he get an inappropriate punishment, or none at all? Also it'll just make teams go ultra defensive for large periods of the game and probably be a bore. I vote no.
Not everyone likes football as it is. There's a crap load of things which need fixing or changing. That's not to say Platini has the right ideas, but you can't say there's nothing wrong with football and we're all happy with it - flaws included.
I'm happy enough with the game as it is. The biggest problem imo, is the lack of consistency in the decision making of officials. That would only be exacerbated by the use of a sin-bin, I think. Just more decisions for them to get wrong.
Consistency is a huge problem. It needs fixing. Like I said, his ideas might be screwed, but at least he's not so stubborn or fond of the good old days to recognise that there are problems which need addressing. It's a good starting point for discussion of change, ie, video ref or the 4th official actually doing something, post game bans or bookings for things like diving or foul play not spotted in the game, refs having to explain decisions (like the Newcastle goal which wasn't given) and if they can't explain validly, they get punished in one way or another, ref decisions being over ruled or harder punishments added to them without it being seen as undermining, refs using a mic during games for decisions, players going down with minimal contact but being awarded a foul because 'contact was made' and players staying the f**k away from refs during the game. Lots of things to be looked at and I'm glad someone is at least bringing some of those items up...eventually a good idea will come forth.
Sin bins won't work. What happens if your keeper get's sin binned? Do you have to stick an outfield player in goal for the time being? Does the 10 minutes include stoppages? If so you'll get teams wasting so much time. Maybe we can have rush keeper, rolling subs and make 11 subs each game
Oh, and a multi ball system. start with 2 ball, no goals after 15 mins, go to 2 balls and keep going...
Actually, I know you're being silly... but I think extra time in a cup game would be a good idea to drop # of players. Same idea fewer players per ball ratio equals more chance of goals. Start extra time 9vs 9... then every 10 mins switch sides and take two people off... 7 vs 7... down to 5 vs 5... 3vs 3 playing "golden ball"... almost certain to avoid penalties that way... and although its silly in some respects fewer people means goal would come quicker... and it mirrors the game better than penalties do. Doubt any game would last long at 5vs 5 without a quick goal. Especially after 100+ mins of play.
Oooh... but what if the managers each had a remote control that would drive the ball along but could only use it for 15 secs each game. That would be cool wouldn't it?
The flaws are sometimes what makes it even more interesting, if there are changes to be made I'd say they should be changes that help the officials make the right calls and not wholesale changes to games.
I agree but then, I guess the introduction of substitutions and cards was massive back in the day, much like the back pass ruling too. I just can't see a sin bin being good for the game. The team thats a man down will become defensive, how is that good? Especially if it is a already defensive side like Chelsea!
I though of that as I typed and I suppose I have to conceded that point a change may seem like a bad idea but once it's implemented it may work out well, but like most the sin bin idea just sounds daft to me.
get rid of Fifa Eufa and the Fa and football will instantly become better, no need for other changes if they wanted to do sin bins certain teams will start cheating even more than they do now to get them sin binned for no reason, video replay for 4th official is the only thing i think we need to see, the rest is a load of bollocks.
