By the sounds of it Poyet is not going to swap Adam Johnson for Ki any time soon.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25700153
Money is all I want from Sunderland. If he's making that much difference for them , they'll be willing to pay lots for him
We are in a win win situation. Either we will get a good player in good form back at the end of the season or we should recoup the money we paid for him, and this could go towards getting a suitable back up striker for Bony.
I guess a lot would depend on if Laudrup stays this summer valley . If Laudrup stays , sell Ki . If Laudrup goes elsewhere , keep him I suppose
I wouldn't mind seeing Sunderland relegated so we can have Poyet in the summer, if ML goes, which I think he will.
My biggest worry about Ki coming back is how he was treated while here , I just can't see his heart in the Swans colors . Cheers valley
So suddenly Johnson is flavour of the month just on the strength of a hat trick, one of which was a penalty. There's no doubt he has talent, it's just that he produces it all too rarely. At the top of his form, I'd take him if he was offered but he is too hit and miss for me. A manager needs to know what he's going to get from his players and Johnson does have a reputation for producing the sulks if he thinks things aren't going his way.
To be fair we could have said the same about Routledge and Shelvey though Ivor...perhaps Johnson just needs the right team and the right manager, perhaps Sunderland under Poyet will be it, maybe not. We probably won't know that until deep into next season. As far as the Swans are concerned I think we will always be taking a punt on potential at this level. The kind of players who put in top class performances consistently, over seasons, get hoovered up by those with the big bucks.....like Cardiff
I'm a bit skeptical about Laudrup bringing anybody in till summer. If he makes deals now and leaves in the summer , the next manager won't want the players Laudrup brought in , it's the nature of managers .We have players coming back and an easier run of games to secure another season in the premiere league
If they're good enough what manger would be stupid to drop them, Vorm, Ash .Rangel, Taylor,Leon, Routledge, Dyer, thats the magnificent 7 there and not the mangers buys
Don't really care about Adam Johnson, blows too hot and cold for my liking. What I have been wondering about though, is how many players will go when Laudrup goes? Who they will be? And Finally after the dust has settled, will we still consider Laudrup a Gent!.................
Sorry , I was more or less talking about a manager buying in the january window and leaving in the summer . It has a tendency to rub .the incoming manager the wrong way , no matter the teams involved
Yes ,a prime example was Carrol at Liverpool , panic buy in January gone within a year of the new manager coming in.
I don't think Laudrup will leave in the summer, particularly if we finish mid table. He'll have money to spend, some players will move on and he can look to bring in some quality of his own choosing. However, if we are relegated or just limp over the line, he might well go, which is why it is essential we supplement our squad now to avoid either scenario. I said from the beginning that 22 players would not be enough. I wanted 25 and, guess what, I'm more experienced than Laudrup (as are many others) about the physical demands of the Premier League and British football. Why? I've been watching it all my life, is why. And not only watching it but I know/knew many top class footballers (and some managers) with whom I've discussed football over many, many years. It is their experience and comments, along with my own observation that provides my viewpoint. British football is far faster, more physical and more demanding than the Spanish game - far more knocks, hamstrings, muscle strains, ligament damage etc. Not only that, the game in Spain is played in warmer climes and that does help in avoiding many types of injury that we get in our colder climate. Anyway, let's hope that we get in a couple of quality players this window, so we can watch our Swans fly up the table which will give us all positive things to write about. Well, most of us anyway.....
Terror, how are you doing, my mate? Fair point, Laudrup might get something out of Johnson that others haven't but I don't think he'll get the chance.
I hope he stays ivor, he just such a quality guy with a history of giving younger players a chance and geting the best out of them. Hope he doesn' t spend to much this window , I' m still trying to wrap my head around spending lately.
Alright thanks Ivor. Loving the new house but have a type written list of "little jobs" to work through....given some of the crap written on here lately I've been getting through this list at a rate of knots. The things DaiSwan drives you too...the missus will be sending him a thank-you card How are you keeping? Any holidays on the horizon?
