I'll have a flick back through a few of the matches. Any requests and I'll see what I can come up with..? I only keep the wins and draws [positives vibes and all that]. By the way, am I reading more than necessary into that nice grass [wistful mode] comment..?
I doubt it TSS - I think Fran was merely saying something to cover for the fact that she needed to quote to see the 'three dot' image!
The problem for the ref is would you call Long offside if it was the middle of the park...he didn't receive the ball initially, but then it was squared to him when he wasn't offside. Comes down to interfering with play...which means it's a judgement call and each ref would call it differently.
Totally different. Gouffran (and the others) were offside when the ball was played, Long wasn't. In no interpretation of the law can Long be considered offside.
As someone else said it is down to the Officials and their interpretation, we will see many more similar events, no two alike and all contentious, just part of the beautiful game.
By the rule it's onside but it's not a very clever rule at all. He's gained a huge advantage by being so far offside initially.
Nothing to stop us from doing the same thing. It's just good movement. Why can't someone pick him up as soon as the ball goes past him (making him onside)? It's not rocket science.
most decisions in football are not black or white, but involve the refs opinion. Most fouls are opinion, yellow card or just a free kick, handball if intentional or not, dangerous play, red card or yellow, inside the area for a penalty or just outside. interfering with play or not is just another decision for the ref to make.
Am I wildly late in notifying people that Luke Shaw made Garth Crooks team of the week..? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25704476 At Right Back..! Obviously he had an embarrassment of riches. Personally, I thought Clyne was just as worthy.
apart from the fact, that for once, he couldn't cross his legs on Saturday??? I was waiting for the Baggies full back to have a go at him as he hit the ball straight at him so many times
I'd have said the same on the face of it but on reflection is it really that different? The only argument you can make to say that Gouffran was offside is that he has affected Joe Hart's thought process in whether he needs to dive or not, thus interfering with play. At the moment the ball is played Long is offside and at that very moment he is affecting the thought process of every one of our defenders but specifically Boruc and the two centre-backs, their number one priority is now him and if he wasn't in an offside position they would probably act differently to how they now have to. Thus surely he is also interfering with play? When using common sense you'd say the two situations are very different, but with that interpretation of the law you could argue they could both be called offside.
I was going to get our cup tickets today but as it started to rain I sent Mrs Godders instead as I didn't want to go out in the damp and wet with my bad chest. When she got back she was livid. She had to stand in the rain and then pay a pound to get out of the car park. I told her to look on the bright side and should we sign anyone in the transfer window she can always tell me people that she had paid a fraction of a millionth of his purchase price. She was not amused.
In that case she will no doubt be very happy but will want his Starbucks paper cup as a highly treasured souvenir.
Can't believe Morgan would be so uncool as to drink a Starbucks coffee. Mind you, being French, he doesn't have to make political postures to be cool. It just goes with the territory.
