Adam Johnson should have stayed at Manchester City to fight for his place, rather than seek a move to Sunderland, Match of the Day pundit Mark Lawrenson has claimed.

The 26-year-old midfielder scored a hat-trick for Gus Poyet’s side as they hammered Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon, taking his goal tally for the season to six.

However, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is unconvinced, stating that it had been “too easy” for Johnson to leave City. Johnson joined the Black Cats for £10m in August 2012 after finding his first-team opportunities increasingly limited at the Etihad.

“This boy Johnson has all the ability in the world, but you know what, if he had anything about him he would have stayed at Manchester City and made it there,” said Lawrenson on Sunday evening’s Match of the Day 2.
Is this man real what a knob.he seems to hate us big style.the true fact is he knows nowt about us as a team and only gets his fact from newspapers.i think he needs to learn a lot about Sunderland before he spouts off his drivell.

Sunderland should immediately issue a press release complaining about the scruffy twat's comments.

When City have a massive squad, made up of multi million pound players, this bumbling arsehole thinks AJ should be content to play the odd cup tie, and come on as a sub, as he had before his transfer.

Did Gerrard leave for greater things when he could've won titles ........... **** off you embarrassing twat!

Fair play to the lad for wanting regular football, there's too many muppets prepared to sit on benches for stupid money nowadays, his move just proves he wants to play football.

Nicky Butt moved for similar reasons, as did your centre half partnership primarily, Phil Neville, I'm sure there's loads more from United too. These guys are players United fans will always respect, far more than the likes of Anderson the fat chump who's happy to sit and pick his arse with his snood on looking at the back of Moyes' head.

Larwrenson is a pig ignorant twat.
"This boy Johnson"? He's a 26 year old man you thick twat!
If he'd said that about me I'd nut the **** straight in the ****ing beak with a Glasgow kiss.

Don't mind Hanson & quite enjoy his analysis of games but Lawrenson is ****e & it's about time he was put out to grass.

Robin Friday dished the **** a volley, right in the grid and then went and shat in his kitbag after he was sent off. My favourite football fact.

Robin Friday, now there's a blast from the past. Reading hero.
Was only 38 when he died, took absolutely no **** whatsoever & wouldn't think twice about twatting some ****er.
Would love to have seen some of these fancy Dan's up against him.
The like's of Tango Ronaldo, Diver Gerrard, Shagger Terrry & their ilk.
Robin would have ripped their knackers off.

Can't f'king stand the bloke, or that bong eyed frog faced cnut Garth Crooks either. Neither of them ever have a good word to say about us. Here's a picture of the t**t from his role in the Labyrinth film.

I couldn't agree more. Can't stand both of them...and trevor francis into the mix. I don't mind Hansen, he's ok with his punditry and takes the piss out of the other muppets....he used to say he'd leave all the headers for Lawro to deal with. The brain damage is evident.
