Unsurprisingly one of those tweets has been deleted. Guess which one? This one still remains though https://twitter.com/punch_jason/status/420236529081286656
Warnock, Redknapp, Allardyce, all cut from the same cloth. In the game for what they can get out of it, ego & money wise.
Poor old Punch is going to be in bother about that (though I've no doubt there's probably truth in there). Did we take the £1.25m already........?
JP needs to come and have a chat with SRL about taking penalties, it is isn't as easy as it would appear.
Subtly different... it has to be proved to be true for it to not be defamatory (Innocent until proven guilty an' all that).
Maybe so, but if Warnock sued, he would run the very real risk of other people backing up Puncheon's story. It's very unlikely to be worth the damage to his reputation to open up that can of worms.
fair point, it would probably begin and end with a solicitor' letter and JP hastily removing his tweets, which he's already done. it's not as if warnock's reputation is good anyway, an unsubstantiated accusation withdrawn won't harm him.
Luckily for Jason the libel law changed two weeks ago. As I'm sure he is aware. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25551640 To make a case Warnock would have to show "serious harm" to his reputation, so the bar has been raised from what you used to be able to sue for. He's welcome to try I suppose.
Feel sorry for Punch. Anybody can miss badly and have done, and it is obvious his mind was distracted when taking the kick. Like I said yesterday, David Beckham did exactly the same thing and blamed the pitch, but didn't suffer the direct ribbing because it pre-dated social networking mediums like Twitter. In fact, I think that ball he kicked can be found passing through the Orion constellation at this point. Beckham's reputation was hardly bruised by that, even when the opposition goalie scored from the same spot, to put his poor effort into perspective. You could see from Jason's face that he was crushed by that. He is, and will continue to be, hammered by this, I've no doubt. Hopefully, it won't be a stick to break him with.
I imagine Puncheon will get over it pretty quickly. All part and parcel of a professional footballer's lot.
