You can be jewish without being religious, as it's passed down through the mother's side. It's a race and a religion
A cultural identity is not a race, Tobias. Anybody can become a Jew. Can anyone become black, other than by a South-Park-esque Negroplasty?
No, but 'jewishness' is passed down through the mother's side. So anyone claiming to be jewish can claim to be from the original jews. It's a race
Sephardi, Ashkenazi, Mizrahi etc. are the ethnic groups which form the ethnic umbrella group of Jews.
Tell you what, how about we have a 'race' to Google. Then we can each search for "Are Jews a race" and see what we find.
I actually agree with Toby here, even though is pretty creepy and has a gay name. With the decreasing role of religion in public life tempering religious antisemitism, a combination of growing nationalism, the rise of eugenics, and resentment at the socio-economic success of the Jews led to what can be described as racist antisemitism.
I know because one of my friends discovered a few years ago she was jewish. Why you making this such an issue?
