We won 5-3 away at Stoke. Do you even enjoy football?

Good move, been saying he should do this since start of last season. Better tackler than Lucas, better passer (usually) and will still chip in with goals. I don't think he's got the legs to get up and down anymore which is why he was out of position a lot defensively after getting forward, he just cant get back quickly. I really don't understand anyone suggesting he should be dropped he's still much better than Lucas, Henderson and Allen whichever midfield position he plays.

    totally agree on both.

Coutinho is 21 and basically i'd drop him now. bench for the next 3-4 weeks, no question. we don't have the subs... but would you drop sterling right now to keep coutinho in? I'd not.

Coutinho has to play as we've no-one else. aspas is so average, journeyman level really, alberto aint ready and i am not sure he's got the drive for the prem yet.

Johnson is now 6 games into a dirt run of form that would see him dropped in any normal season. with kelly looking unable to start a game and wisdom on loan and enrique ut he seem to think he can do whatever and save himself for something... england? he also needs dropping.

I don't like him in the holding role. He doesn't have enough legs or energy.

Its fine against Stoke but we will get caught out by the better teams.

If we want to do this we need better than Lucas.

I don't mind Gerrard in that role at home against a team we're going to dominate possession wise. However against top teams or teams with lots of movement (Arsenal, Saints, Swansea) for example we need more energy.

I agree. Try that on with everton and i think we'd get in trouble.

I need to hear what gerrard said post conference.

I think rodgers would "flip the triangle" anyway in bigger games.

    this would mean

    Gerrard - Lucas
    Henderson

    or

    Gerrard
    Henderson - Lucas

I think the case for me is can henderson drop in and play deep lying and for me i think he's got the attributes.

I'd like us to buy Barkley to annoy tobes but mostly cos i think he'll be the top box to box player of the next 5 years... we don't need a big donkey player here, we need a dynamic player

Only seen the first half today lads, gave up on us after Stoke got the two back and went to do something else. Gerrard was doing Lucas's job for him today, Lucas was absolute trash, totally anonymous, think I saw him make one (easy) challenge. He's gone back to the questionable player that LFC fans used to love to hate. It's a shame to see Gerrard having to pay that role too, he should be doling out the precise long balls, holding it together in the middle with nice short little angled passes. Having to break down the opp he doesn't get the chance to do that and when he does he's too tired to be any good at it. It needs sorting because we are a liability defensively still. Alright we've got Sakho and Agger to come back and thank god. Why Kelly didn't start at right back today is beyond me, Johnson is so weak.

The main problem I see with Gerrard is that he is demands the ball (not a bad thing) but the other players due to his stature in the club will pass to him, or listen to him when there is a better option.

If you look at the game yesterday as an example.

    Stoke v Liverpool Highlights

The first move for the second Stoke goal [Adam] starts with a mistake by Gerrard and Henderson. Bobbling ball coming back toward our goal, and Henderson plays it back to Gerrard in a dangerous area, rather than looking to his left where Johnson was completely free on the right. [video 5:42]

The third Stoke goal again seems to be Gerrard demanding the ball when other options would result in a better outcome. A high ball is going to be recovered by Lucas when Gerrard comes in calling for the ball. Lucas leaves it and then Gerrard's heavy touch allows Adam to play in Arnautović who then sets up Walters. [video 9:22]

This happened several times and is highlighted by Henderson regressing from his dominating games previously.

Gerrard is a fine player but either he feels he must do everything, or his team feel like they must pass to him when there are often better options. To say that Gerrard is past it is short sighted but there needs to be a conscious effort by the rest of the team to not be over awed by his presence.

I think it is a shrewd move. Gerrard was rusty yesterday with his Hollywood passes but his defending was flawless. I think playing a DM role could ensure he has a starting position for the next year or two. As for Lucas, I honestly think his days are numbered and our midfield ought to be Gerrard, Hendo and Coutinho with SASS up front. Although I think BR will drop Sterling for Lucas which is a shame.

I think Lucas will be dropped for Allen and Sturridge for Coutinho.

can't see skertl dropped, not saying it shouldn't happen, just i cant see the boss doing it.

We are playing villa at home.. I'd keep cissokho in for pig iron but i personally have had enough of bad performances from johnson and its 6 in a row now.

cisshko i presume for both full backs.

    I'd call that 4-4-2 personally.

Yeah I have made my feelings clear on Johnson - just thought he might surprise us with a good game if switched to the left as he has had good games there before.

Jenners - not sure mate, I guess we'd go back to ****ty Johnson at RB again.

When are Flanno and Enrique back?
I hear both Sahko and Allen should be in the squad for the Villa game <ok>
Who knows' may be new DM..
I love Stevie but if he's going to hold he needs someone bigger, quicker and stronger next to him..
I'd like to see, when fit this year..

    ------------------------- Ming -------------------------
    - Flanno ------- Skrtel---- Sahko ----- Enrique -
    -------------------- A New DM ----------------------
    -----------------Gerrard -----------------------------
    -- Sterling/Ford -------- Hendo -------------------
    --------------------------Suarez --------------------
    -------------- Sturrdige -----------------------------

With the ball we'd be a more attack minded 4-1-3-2
    Drop to a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 without..
The above would give us a reasonable bench too (if all fit..)

  19. Could be go good at home to a lower ranked side such as Villa but I'm concerned that we would be hit on the counter against them with that team.

The full backs will have to be defenders more than attackers.
