You could also require the "free kick" punishment takes place after the game like all other punishments.

You could sell tickets and have pre punishment entertainment such as kids trying to hit the crossbar etc.........

It changed a game we were going to win.
Ref do need help, but this was clear to see that it was a goal

goal technology wouldn't take long really ( like how long is the ball in play anyway in a normal game ) .. me thinks ...and diving don't get me wrong some players are fouled the little ones ...but arsenal are the worst in my eyes they go to ground far to easy ...for me .. and that's poor play ..

bring it in for me cause I don't belive in the even itself out theory ... its always the top clubs that gain ..

We'll never know what would have happened. It could have spurred us on or it could have spurred them on and seen us take a hammering. That's why I have no time for the argument that bad decisions have cost 'X' number of points for any team as it doesn't necessarily work out that way.

There's already too much stop/start going on in the modern game without introducing Video Technology.
Every contentious decision stopping the game and even then the end result would be down to interpretation of the laws.

IMO it would be a disaster for football and the beginning of the end for football as we know it.
How long after that before people would be shouting for timeouts and four quarters to a game.

Football is meant to be a non-stop fast flowing game and as far as I can see Video Tech would take the spectacle away.
Personally, I'm not sure I would even want to go to live games anymore.

but so many of these are about interpretation and not everyone will agree even after endless replays

If I were Tiote I'd be mad as hell.
He's one chap you just wouldn't piss off given he ate Chuck Norris for breakfast and said breakfast gets served by JCVD in a tutu.

    From the BBC:

Newcastle's man of the match Cheick Tiote on his disallowed goal: "I think it was a goal and I don't know why the referee didn't accept it, but sometimes that's football and you have to get on with it.

"We asked the referee to explain why he didn't give the goal, but he didn't say anything so we had to get on with it.

"I think it was Gouffran who got in the way of my shot when he was next to the goalkeeper, but he didn't touch the ball.

"He wasn't interfering with my shot, so I'm not sure why the assistant gave it offside."

Why do I picture Gouffran curled up in a ball in the dressing room, weeping uncontrollably under a cold hard stare from Tiote?

Who's to say with Video Tech that the goal would have stood, the 4th official or whoever making the decision might have interpreted that he was interfering with play. The same with Liverpool, personally, I don't think it was a handball, and also not a penalty.

By the same token, do you check every foul to see if a player should be booked, if you did, we wouldn't have had 11 men on the field at end today, more like 9.

Football is a game of chance, that's what makes it what it is and to sanitise it would kill it stone dead.

That's it Obi Wan, and how exactly do you decide if a player dives or not? If the tackler says he did, he did, right? How many video replays actually prove it one way or the other?

Quite a few replays will show when there is no contact, seen it often enough during matches, MOTD, Goals on Sunday, MOTD2 ETC

well .. I think it would of been given really as ..they have to obey the rules ..I just think the ref guessed ..but we will never know .. you cant stop for every foul ,to see if they should be booked . . that would be stupid .. and I never said that anyway ..

maybe somehow ex pro s that know the game experienced ..could be involved ..people would trust there verdict ..look at the goal line tech ..that doesn't take long ..basicly invisible ..only goals really

I'm in favour of using any tech available for major decisions. Pens, Goal line incidents etc. As for the time issues involved, make it so only the captain can speak to the ref. So much time is wasted by players harassing and crowding round the ref that if you stop that, the time will more than even out and we get more game and less vitriol spouted at the officials.
