I thought we were outstanding today and deserved at least a point.

Bad luck and bad officiating cost us. We desperately need a striker though. Even Remy looks down on confidence at the moment.

Sadly that's four defeats on the spin now. Very big game at West Ham for us next.

Brilliant performance. No shame in that defeat. The big decision didn't go our way but we take it on eh chin and hopefully, like you say, get a goalscorer in this window. I really don't think we're too far away from being a really decent team.

On the back of that performance, I'd like to think they'll be confident for West Ham and put in a good one again.

Agreed. I know we've had three straight defeats in the league but against Arsenal and Man City there was so much to be proud of. Let's hope West Ham and Fat Sham get it both barrels

Agreed, with maybe a little bit more quality and composure in front of goal.

I don't think we should be deflated in any way today. Our players were more than worthy of points today against the most expensively put together team in premier league history, and that's what we want.

Just because some fugget (f***-nugget) made himself look like a bigger prat and attention-seeker than the guy who decided to streak, that shouldn't take away anything from the team <ok>

How can you feel disappointed? I mean, unlike some clubs, we don't have a choice of who officiates, and the thing in our control, our performance, was good. Feeling happy!

I felt that way when we last played Man City in the League cup. We need to move on now, try to get some points in the next two games, buy a f**king striker and then smash those ****s in the Derby. Do this - and I will be more than happy.

Oh and I'm not a fan of Pardew but Pellegrini is indeed an old ****.

We played really well today. Our midfield and defence if we have everyone available is more than decent. Really really need a striker though. I like remy but he likes to drop deep. I think we also need someone to properly play up top.

At least we are not on this 3 game defeat run whilst languishing in the lower reaches. We'd have been suicidal last year. This year, we can just suck it up and move on.

    Well said.

And as much as the nature of yesterday's defeat was very hard to take, I for one would much rather we lost the way we did rather than getting turned over heavily. We performed well and there are more than enough positives to take in to the West Ham game.

Would be nice to get a result next week to keep the cushion we have ahed of 10th place. We have three very winnable games coming up so plenty to be excited for.

In their post-match coverage, the Manchester Evening News summarised the episode as follows:

"Referee Jones consulted with his assistant and ruled out the goal. TV cameras picked up a conversation between the two men, with the assistant asking the referee if the ball had struck (Yoan) Gouffran. Jones appeared to reply, wrongly, that it had, so the assistant told him the goal should be disallowed for offside."

Less a poor decision, more a miscarriage of justice and based on an interpretation of the rules not usually made.
