Here's a very good example of the kind of bias that we are forced to endure in the media. On Talk5hite, earlier, the news-reader read out today's scores in the Prem. In recalling United's 2-0 victory over Swansea, he said, "That leaves United only 4 points off a CL place." When he got to our 2-0 win over Palace, he said nothing about us being only 1 point off a CL spot and, instead, opted for the "Spurs were lucky to win" angle. United are CL contenders in the eyes of the media, we are not, even though we beat United at OT.
Just read Everton have signed McGeady. He finally gets a move to a proper league after enjoying success in Scotland and Russia.
Lee Wallace? That's an odd one but he left Hearts to play for Rangers and not sure why Sherwood is looking at him in the Scottish league one! But he was popular at hearts and he's an attack minded full back, good athlete and rangers fans go on about his vision but not being funny he is facing teams like East Fife! Norwich signed Whitaker who was highly rated in Scotland (and we remember Hutton) so that tells you how easy it is in Scotland to gain a reputation as a defender but with the financial situation of rangers he wouldn't be expensive.
It's in the media's interests to market their biggest cash cow as much as possible. Sky are afill marketing them as title contenders as are other media outlets. Expect the SKY PR machine to rev up over the next 4 months
Yes, it's Wallace he wanted checking on. I'll probably get a sight of the scouts report during the week, so I'll let you know what he says. .
That be interesting to read . Although SC, I'm sure when they scouted Hutton his report would have been glowing as he was superb for Rangers! I shouldn't be so cynical over Scottish defenders! But one fact I just found out was Wallace is already studying for his coaching badges, at 26, must have a straight head.
Who is saying Utd are title contenders? Certainly nobody in the media is running this as a story. Contrary to what you claim, Sky discussed how Utd were not title contenders with Gary Neville opining that Moyes' target would be to ensure that Utd were in the CL next season i.e got 4th place. If you want to listen to Sky pundits talking in cliches about the title race, then it goes along the lines of Mourinho, knows what it takes, unbeaten in the PL at Stamford Bridge, Torres starting to score, Hazard, Terry, yawn, yawn, yawn.
I think the media is slowly turning on Moyes, because it loves United so much. Saggers, the voice of football on Talk5hite, said only a couple of days ago that, having been an initial supporter of Moyes, he now believes that he's the Devil incarnate and should be exorcised from the club and put to death on the altar of public opinion.
Newcastle just got a shocking decision v City. Great strike from Tiote to make it 1-1 but ruled out for offside completely incorrectly. If there is any justice they will get something from this game.
I wouldn't blame him either! Terrible decision. One of the worst I have seen for a long time. If it happened to us I would be spitting feathers!
Disgraceful decision - totally down to the ref it seems. Should be sidelined/ downgraded for a few weeks. Hopefully just incompetence. Trouble is that's the sort of decision that brings other 'matters' into sharp focus: anyone able to check his betting history or bank accounts???
Am I the only one that didn't think it was such a terrible call? Definitely the wrong call but still, I've seen much worse refereeing. The trouble is that if an offside player is standing in the way of the ball's flight then even if he's not in the 'keeper's direct line of site then he's causing a distraction. As it's flying into the net anyway I don't think it matters in this case but you can see why the ref's given it because Hart didn't move and appealed straight away.
Charlie Adam is playing against 'Pool. I wonder if the thug is in the mood to cripple Suarez, today? Or if he's only ever in that mood when he plays us?
