Just some things to think about: Everton have only been beaten twice this season. (We beat them at their place) We have been extremely unlucky with sending off's this season which have cost us points. We have beaten Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd this season. We are now only 1 win away from being out of the drop zone. Out of the other sides around us we are playing the best football and have the kindest run in, especially at home. We have time in the transfer window to bring in some players, we look a much better prospect now we are off the bottom. Gus likes playing people in their natural positions, he knows what we need in terms of players coming in, Alonso shows us our scouting network can find players that fit Gus's system. I for one am very excited about the future, we have the right manager and we seem to be moving on the dead wood and looking to bring in quality. Gus seems to be able to motivate players like AJ & Catts to get the best our of them. The future is bright the future is red and white.
Poyet knows what he is doing and that is a massive plus. He is tactically aware. Makes great subs. We have half a chance now lost. Two home games coming up and these are the ones against the lesser teams that we have been struggling in. We may have a better chance against Southampton as they may have a go. Stoke won't. however a great confidence boost today. AJ won't score a hat trick every week so we need a goal scorer or one of our strikers to hit form. Altidore should have scored today, he had great chances and wasted them. In tighter matches those chances make the difference. Feet still firmly on the ground but feeling a lot more positive after that!
I may be premature, but I'm excited for what Gus can do with us NEXT season. The man is ****ing superb, we just need to get this home form sorted, if we do, we will rocket out of this ****. Despite it's flaws, this isn't a relegation squad, & we should never have been in this ****, but that's not the point, Poyet has made the players believe, he's got us playing football, and right now, I can't ****ing wait for next week
Nothing out of the ordinary then? .... He offers us absolutely nothing and it should be him at Sheff Wed and Wickham here with us.
Offers nothing? Great touch to Ki in the build up for the 3rd, won penalty for 4th. He can't shoot, but he does contribute, Whickham has had 1 good game for us, ever, & is quite rightly on loan to try & develop him.
We need to keep our feet firmly on the ground mate. You make the point about having a "kind run in". I'd just point out that 2 of our last 4 games are away to Chelski and Man U. That gives us the next 13 games (plus the other 2 last of 4) to get to safety. For me March is the key month. Home to West Brom, Palace and West Ham and away to Liverpool and Norwich. There's a shed load of points there for a team in form. But February is very hard, 3 away, against our scruffy cousins up the road, Man C and the Ar5e, and 1 game, home to Hull. We need to take enough points to still be in the mix at the end of Feb. Theres nothing easy about that run-in mate. What we need is 2 good results against Southampton and Stoke this month to keep us fired up for a tough February. Then reap the benefit of a good March fixture list.
A positive thread invaded by a totally predictable negative post from a knacker. Nowt changes on here does it
Altidore did well when he came on and he gives us options when he comes on. He is quicker than fletcher, stronger, links the play better and is better in the air. It all works when others are scoring BUT he must start scoring.
One point from 8 games and now 16 points from 13 games We are the in form team in the lower half. We are also playing attractive modern football. Thank you Gus Poyet.
It's amazing that the last bloke on most people's list should be the one to unite us all ............... or are there people who don't like him?
2 teams we have beaten already this season. Is the glass half full or half empty? I am more worried about playing the likes of West Brom, we have done well against the top sides.
