Time to get behind the lads? The time was the first game against Fulham and should have been maintained. All of our own who wrote us off months ago should be ashamed. Personally I don't care if the time is now for them to change their tune. The was to much jumping ship at the sign of a repairable leak. Lucky they can reach the ladder and climb back aboard.

Edit: I don't mean you. You've only had 87 posts anyway. Just ranting. <ok>

I completely agree. The lads will come out on a high next week and need crowd to be loud and behind them throughout the game. A good result against Southampton should help the lads carry their new spirit into the game at Old Trafford. The boo boys should stay away next week, or at least keep their ****ing mouths shut for 90 minutes.

Some of the **** I hear at the games is incredible, it's like a massive section want us to fail so they have summat to complain about.

Maybe it's up to the more positive element to get in their faces & tell them to shut the **** up, I know I've personally went at people at the match for their negative ****e.

They're everywhere, I've only managed 6 games so far this year and every time I've had ****ers like that sat behind me. They're ten a penny on the message boards too.

The crowd makes a massive difference, back in the Reid days when it was full every week the noise way incredible. Extending the ground was a big mistake as its lost some of the atmosphere. I was all for it at the time because we were selling out easily but that has changed. We need big crowds and a big noise and we will win our home games.

I sit in a heavily season-carded area, & for the most part the lads around me are sound, I often find it's the 'occasional' fan that's the worst, and as a club we have a lot of these.

You can take things many ways, but there's nearly always a positive.

I'm not suggesting happy clapping, there are times when we have been utterly abstract ****e & then you can kinda understand it, but negative input from 'support' can never, ever benefit a sports team in a game where confidence & feeling comfortable is a massive factor.

Spot on Vegas about the crowds, in a way, I feel closing the third tier should be considered, lower costs to the club, policing, energy & staffing, and a better atmosphere for the lads.

We've been playing a lot better away from home.. not a coincidence

Why people buy a ticket and just spend all of it moaning is ****ing beyond me

We'd be better off with a gate of 30k fans getting behind the lads than having a 40k gate with twats mixed in

When I had my season ticket it was the same fella, the odd few but nothing too irritating. It's not until I gave up my ticket and moved around the ground for different games that I've realised how bad it is. Was down near the dug outs for MK Dons and that was the worst I've ever heard. Poor Ji. The fans abused him with words they'd get arrested for in the street.

And before some come out and say that was PDC fault for sending him out in the second half can I just say **** off! You're boring. <ok>

Same for me, when I had my season card the people we sat with were all great, good atmosphere and some good banter. We moved from the South stand to the extension and for 2 seasons I put up with idiots giving our players abuse. I gave up when during the derby someone said their is scum in the stand. People started spitting from behind me trying to spit on this so called mag? a bloke started having a heart attack, someone said he is a mag kick him and a load of thugs started fighting with the stewards trying to get to this poor person. Who knows if they were a mag or not. After that I gave up my season card.

I only go occasionally now and its a mixed bag depending on where you sit. I have not been back in the South stand since they moved the away supporters and created the singing section so might give that a go in the future.

One sad thing that I've seen, having had my seat since the move to the SOL, is a lot of faces that are no longer there, including some great, passionate lads.

I guess a fair few are down to financial circumstances, but there are of course many who have given up on the club.

I remember the banter, I stood Main Stand Roker Wing from age 11, and we all knew every face, it was ****ing brilliant, every week.

When we back the lads in numbers & voice the atmosphere can be utterly mesmerising, real goosebumps ****, we need to win that back, somehow.

The only way would be the German model of really low prices. I am sure if it was £10 a ticket with cash turnstiles at every home game we would be full every week. They should also do a happy hour and cheaper drinks to encourage people to come. Have a family section where kids get in for £1 and you get a free program.

There is lots that could be done, you would have to do it with the bottom line in mind of course but I think it would be doable. It just takes someone to come in who could change the culture or charging high prices for a premium product. Think out of the box and do something different.

Lets face it clubs like Sunderland will never compete on the same level for fans as Man U, Aresnal etc... (Its amazing how well we currently do) if we try and copy their way of thinking we will always be 2nd best to them. Just like Ryanair and Easy Jet changed flying someone could change the culture of going to football.

Spot on mate, & the reality is that ticket income is a pittance to the club anyway.

Would that bring people back though? I've never seen a huge impact when £10 tickets have been offered in past seasons, the club needs to be working more in the community & getting young lads hooked.

I know the club does this kinda thing, a good friend of mine is involved, but it's a very small team, more supporters isn't just about seats, it's the worth of selling merchandise, & greater than that, the money Adidas will pay us if there's good demand & appeal.

People say supporters are overlooked, but in reality, the big deals are linked to that level of support & appeal, so indirectly we remain a massive, massive factor.

I'm sick of some people saying it's because we have moved the away fans etc..For Christ's sake it shouldn't matter where the away fans are sitting..Sing your bloody hearts out for the lads..

Its because they are only one off's for the least attractive games. If they were advertised for all games once people started coming they would get hooked, especially with the brand of football Gus wants to play.

You probably know yourself from promoting club nights it takes time to build a brand. You get your early adopters, if you make sure they have a great value for money experience they tell other people about it and then your audience grows.

Agreed mate. Bung the away fans in the SWC & close the upper tier for a bit. That's what I'd do.

A few of my pals are front of Premier Concourse in the middle, they were season ticket holders in the Clockstand Centre, and got 1st pick up there and have been there for nearly 15 year now. Would p*ss them off closing it. Maybe the family thing should be 1st 10 Rows around the whole Stadium, cheap as chips,
fill the place. Who knows but its the fact its priced wrong as much as anything that it isn't full.

Closing the upper tier would not affect the Premier Concourse mate, it's in the lower bowl.
