Tomorrow's BCD chat will be interesting. Me thinks that next week's game against the top of the league will show a significant improvement. Sounds mad? BMD will have a week's worth of training with the two new players. I think Mowatt will pay the price for some rubbish corners. I think Murphy will come in and show why he was valued at £1m. I also think that we will have two CBs and Byram/Warnock will come in for Pugh/Peltier. All in all, with 30k explaining how things should be done, the players will get the message.
This is not a sending off, surely?
With that I am signing out for the night, I just wish I had a little tiny bit of that optimism you still have
If you were going for a header eyes on the ball and some guy not even attempting to go for it charged through and shouldered you in the head you might feel different BTW - What was Kirkland doing right up there?
This may make you feel better
There have been times this season when we've all felt quite optimistic - the last only yesterday. That hasn't happened for years.
Been watching it in slow mo, I don't see it like that. Cannot see it being a red. He had just come on to the pitch
I understand your sentiments. But we've been whipped/humiliated so many times in the last few years eg Forest at home, Preston etc that you get numbed into thinking this is the about the norm for Leeds and that this is acceptable. If I was says eons like Peter Wilkinson, Paul Sykes, or other wealthy Leeds fan I really wouldn't be able to stand this any longer - enough is enough- and I would have to get my cheque book out ASAP. Paying peanuts & getting monkeys is an old expression but continuing to overshadow us; however, you wouldn't have to spend mega bucks to buy better quality players. If I was one of the aforementioned, I don't think I could live with myself in later life knowing that I could have done something about this and left a lasting legacy to LUFC and city of Leeds.
Not a sending off in a million years, but then again, we got phark all off the referee today. Premler league? You'r 'avin' a larf!!!
Watch it again from all the angles ristac. No arms, no elbows, challenging close to the player to put him off (if a Leeds player did not do that, you would bawl them out for not bleeding white), and only hit him because the SW player pushed through with his head. You can clim that that is how to head the ball - and I would not disagree - but exactly how far away was Smith from winning it? One tenth of a second? One hundredth? FFS - he challenged for the ball without using any illegal part of his body and only caught the extended bit of the opposition player. Now watch some of the challenges from behind by SWFC players that did not even get yellow cards, and some did not even get free kicks. This was inconsistency in the extreme. But it is not worth chalenging the red card - he did catch him, and the ref will be backed. But this was not worthy of a red card, and I'd even question a yellow, when you see it more and more from the various angles. And if you listen carefully, Probert seems to be whistling before the challenge even happens. Maybe it's an audio delay from the recording, I don't know, but if not, and then you link it to the over-reaction by the SW players, this decision was just plain wrong
Pause it at 20-21 seconds on the replay, he doesn't get anywhere near the ball, it hits the Wendies player and Smith is actually in front of him. How does someone of his height miss completely when in front of the opponent and still take him out with a shoulder to the head. I didn't say he wasn't looking at the ball, I said he wasn't attempting to win it
They're both going for the ball, if he's in front of him how the **** did he hit his head, I'd even go as far and say the player made a meal of it.
